LS1 into a Vauxhall Astra Coupe
#202
Repositioned wishbone front tie rod, connected the steering rack, made the drop links for the ARB, and made a template for the new ARB ..........
Mounted the radiator ...............
And made the new link, and fitted the steering column .......
All in all, not a bad days work

I would say, that if you follow the letter of the law, it should. But then, so should mine, and thousands of other vehicles in the UK
Drastic changes could be coming into force in the UK, which **** over a lot of cars. Including restored classics, as many have been restored from non-original parts. Enough of which, could render the car needing SVA'd
These proposals were doing the rounds a year or so ago in the magazines, warning readers to write to the DLVA basically telling them to wise up.
The NSRA is also appealing to them, as many of their "radically" altered vehicles could also end up requiring an SVA, and for many older vehicles, including restored classics, apparently this would be nigh on impossible for them to actually pass.
At best, they could end up with a Q plate. At worst,, they would simply be rendered illegal to use on the road.
Look at the thousands of drag orientated machines that exist, that bare litte-no resemblance to their original car.

I will be declaring everything to the DVLA, if they decide that it needs an SVA, it`ll be trailored to the Gillingham test centre and from there to the MOT station
As everything is GM, I`m hoping it wont be a Q plate, as I`ve already bought this .......

I can understand you wanting to do everything by the book....and its probably right that you do.
But thats an extremely fucked up book they work from, and they keep changing the rules, mostly in a move to extort more money from us.

Hey Pete 1, newbe here. I've been roaming this site for a while and I finally decided to join. Brilliant work dude. What IRS setup are using. I'm just wondering if it'll hold up to the LS1 torque. Show us some pics of your other shop projects.

The actual suspension arms and main cross member are identical, the diff casings and mountings are totally different tho, and the overall width of the GTO axle is 110 mm wider than the Omega, 70 mm of this, is the difference in the diff casing.
