Wow that's great! Just when I thought we were the only ones doing it. we are in the process of gathering a few parts still. Our combo will be as follows:Jw power glide,422ci ls1, carbed with a nx plate system. Should be a fun build.
P.s. Did you have any major things to over come to do this swap?

UPDATE!!!
Got it up on the dyno. Car made 485rwhp and 525rwtq at 6psi on the T3 70mm turbo, but the power fell off at 5200. So we're planning on installing a T4 76mm Turbonetics turbo and pull it to 6000 since it has a Z06 cam and valve springs.
Took it to the local 1/8th mile track last night, ran a best of 8.17 @ 93mph. That was granny shifting it on 100% stock original 100,000 mile suspension with a set of 255/50/16 M/T Drag Radials with 25psi in them.

just joined here to help out, i own several conquests as my signature shows
the stock weight of most wide body (87-89 TSI and starion ESIR) is arond 3000 pounds.
My 87 TSI (black hood) was easily dropped to 2800 even with full interior.
The stock rear end is 3.54 but you can swap in the ring and pinion from the d50/mighty max trucks that came with the 2.6. These ratios can be found in 3.54, 3.90, 4.22 and supposedly on some rare monteros you could get 5.12's ( i have never seen these in person)
I have a 1988 sunroof automatic/sunroof car for sale, it is completely stock and very straight. The auto cars are what you want to use with this swap as the foor pans were stamped differently and have plenty of room for the T56 trans without beating it.
I have to add this as i love these cars as you guys love your GM products... dont start this project unless you plan on finishing it. We only got around 100,000 of these cars total to the US from late 82 (83 model year) to 89. Please dont gut and junk it...see it through and you will be pleasantly surprised by the response you get from every show you attend. The bonus is you get to go to twice the events with the car... Gm for the engine, mopar for the name and any import show you care to attend for the pedigree (dont be scared by what you see on TV..import events are about more the 22's and civics). Im 33 btw and enjoy every car event i attend, ive owned everything form built mopars, to race prepped BMW's etc.
Take Care and if you have any questions feel free to contact me,
Monty
