Default Eclipse lol

Ok so i have a 95 eclipse....and the engine doesn't work. Its my new project car. And i have the body just how i want it. I do like the way the transam/camaro look. But i love the look of the eclipse. I know an ls1 put into an eclipse is gonna be expesnive as anything. But I have tons of time to put all of it into action. And my friend and i think it'd be a cool car. Any advice on how to do this?

You might have hope since they did come in AWD and you may be able to convert it to RWD...but otherwise it would be a waste of time IMO. Also I'm not sure if the tranny tunnel and front subframe/steering rack look like on a DSM so it might be a waste of time anyway. They could cause some serious problems for you.

If the car is awd, I say go for it. There will be tons of modification you will have to do, but if you have the time and know how...have at it. Trying to convert a fwd to rwd (or awd) is a nightmare in those cars. You basically have to cut the rear half of the car out and graft in the awd setup. I always have wanted to see a v8 in one of those though. Good luck.

if its just a body, build a frame and then set the cars body down onto the frame, use a soild rear axel and just cut up the car wherever nessecary to get it onto the frame of your own design

Sounds like a plan to me.

Buschur Racing might be steer in the proper direction. They run RWD setups and could probably tell you if an LS1 would mate up in an AWD.

The Buscher RWD car has a north south layout 4G63 with an adapter plate and a Turbo 400 or 350, dont remember. The starion is a unibody, and the Eclipse is a tube chassis.

If you have an AWD car, there is a ton of room in there, but no tranny tunnel.

Certianly a project, but it would be a lot of work Im assuming you walked the 7bolt?
