It really depends on combination. The slowest one I've seen was low 7's in the 1/8th mile with a bone stock LS1.

Low 7's in the 1/8 is low 11's in the 1/4... Its pretty hard to go any slower with this type of setup, unless you're building a really heavy car (like a fully loaded 'vert) or don't put sticky tires on the car.

Just finished my coupe. My old h/c/i combo with the stack 302 bottom went 12.9 with a 3.73. The stock ls1 in it now it noticably faster and spins all of secong gear relentlessly and thats with a 3.27 gear now. The old combo wouldn't.

What method did you use for the clutch linkage/hydraulics? Lots of folks here have been really interested in seeing it put together.

I used turbocoupe pedals. And a Tilton master cylinder. Any of the universal ones will work. I used the 74series if I remember right. I had to shorten the shaft past the threads though to make it fit. And then JBwelded the spherical rod end to it.

Got a used clutch master off of ebay. And took the line off of it. Cut the part where you do the drill mod. So all you have is a -4 line with the quick disconnect. Then added a -4 90* hose end. And used a -4 to -3 reducer into the master.

For mounting the master you need to get creative. There is no room in there. And this will require you to take the dash off. No way to do it otherwise. And prebleed the system before putting the dash on. Makes for a really bad pita to get the air out of the system.

And thats all.
Dan.

Lightbulb idea.............

Maybe you could use the steering column mounting plate from the turbo coupe, as the master cyl mounts right next to the column. Maybe the turbo coupe hydraulics would even work. I found a turbo coupe sitting on a farm, I am gonna grab the pedals, column plate, and master/slave cyls and lines.

1. LS1 is lighter
2. LS1 is more efficient
3. LS1 is more powerful
4. LS1 is stronger (ie. 302 block generally splits down the middle by ~500 RWHP)
5. LS1 is cheaper per HP in the same power range
6. Its just cool

I dunno. There are ALOT of 600+rwhp 5.0 foxes out there. They all split.

I'm just saying. I don't really see the point of swapping engines from one maker to another.

ls1 - s10, gm muscle cars. I see those.

But GM engine in a Ford? The 302 is a very capable motor and will be cheaper to build.

Its a very common problem for 302's to split down the lifter valley, i have seen it at 400rwhp levels on more then one occasion. Don't you see, GM in a Fox makes so much sense, they are light and hook very well. Also 302's would be more expensive to build to the potential of even a bone stock LS1. i for one have seen way to many junk 5.0's running bottom of the 13's with heads/cam/intake. The best way to make a fast ford is with a GM motor.

ls1269u: Your combo sounds very much like the build we have in progress right now, i wish i could give you times but it will still be a while before the LS1 transplant will be ready to put in. I am expecting pretty good times tho since the Coupe its going in has already run a best of 11.66 NA with the crappy built 5.0.
