I think the website is intakehoses.com or something like that. Some performance shops carry the inlet as well. I think nastyperformance would have it since they make custom cold air kits.

I was thinking the same thing. One guy was even saying the 302 could hold up better than a LS1. I hope he is not talking about the same 302's that I have seen pics all over the internet where they split in half.

if you read through it, he say's a freind of his sent him a link and he posted the pics. i only made it through page 1 after reading all that b.s., but 3/4 of the way down, he clearly states it's not his car.

LX1, gotta question for you. is there any way we could hook up so i could see your swap in person??? i'm really wanting to do this too, i just need to sell my current motor and some other stuff. shoot me a pm if you would please.

thanks,
Dave

Update on the car.

So far Ive got 1000 miles on the car and everything is running perfect. The starter sometimes gets a little heat soaked and has a hard time turning over but for the most part hasn't been a real problem.

The car currently gets about 16mpg in the city and 20 on the highway cruising at 80 in 6th gear. Im running 26" tires and a 3.27 rear gear. So it puts me at about 1800 rpm while cruising. And thats with no 02's hooked up. And an intake that is right behind the radiator. Plus a 130k stock fuel pump and filter. I can probably get alot more out of the car with a new cai, 02's and a new fuel filter and upping to a 3.73 maybe.

BTW-Thanks for the link to that thread. Good read lol.

PRAYHRD- We can meet up no problem. Ill be going to the track within the next week or so ill shoot ya a pm when im going.

Sweet! Whenever I come across posts like this I email them to my mustang friends with a title "Mustang built right". Its always fun to get them going... but its the truth.

Yep, that would be the same 302's that had cracked piston skirts, 75% of the time, when torn down with more than 35,000 miles.

lx1 did you have a problem with your steerig shaft hitting the headers or what did you do. I had all kind of problems with that when putting the 383 in

My steering shaft had every tube in its path to the rack. I had to get 2 j-bend, cut all the tubes and reuse everything including the j-bends to get every tube to fit. Took about 6 hours to do. And it was a pita. Good thing I had a lift to do it. Otherwise I never would have been able to do it.

Which headers did you use? I only had to re-route one primary on mine, on each side.

351 swap headers. The passenger side just needed the ls1 flange and fit perfectly. The Drivers side was a pita. Also take into consideration I am using a differect k-member. Ive had the chance to look over tt-verts car and his setup sits about 2 1/2 inches farther back then mine with the 4.6l k-member. If I had gone with the 4.6 k-member the header would have fit a little better but a few of the tubes would have needing modifying anyway.

Wow, 2-1/2" is quite a variance! If someone jumps on the ball and makes swap headers, they'll have to decide which K setup to work with.

Not to mention, 2-1/2" will likely make quite a noticable difference in handling and/or wheelie height

I have been contemplating this swap for some time now. Great thread. I too live in the Chicago area. I would like to see both these foxes in the area some time. Keep me posted on events you guys attend or check out the midwest section for events. I usually post when I go to the track and other stuff. I would love to see these cars in person and in action. I would like to build an A3 car for drag and make my Z a pro tourer.

mine with a 4.6l k-member sits pretty far back, which is awesome. Great for carrying a long turbo wheels up pass
