Default LS2 in Monte SS

Hi all, I'm a newbie here I'm looking at putting an LS2 into my Monte SS with a 4l60e trans. I have a few questions that I've been searching for a while. In terms of the harness, who makes a real good one that is complete? Do I need to stay with the "drive by wire" throttle body or can I retrofit traditional cable throttle body? If I have to use the "drive by wire", which pedal assembly should I get? Will any LS series 4l60e trans work or do I need the ones that only came with the LS2? I would like to find a donor car but they're pretty rare. I might just get new stuff. Thanks in advance.

Speartech is a sponsor of this board and can probably help you with the wiring.
I am pretty sure you would need to stick with the ETC since there would be no real way to program the compuer to handle a cable TB.
I think though you could use an LS1 style computer to run it all and then you could go with a cable setup.

Thanks, I'll contact them and see what they say. Any idea if I need a 2005 4l60e or can I use any LS series 4l60e?

Speartech is the man and can definitely help with the LS2. Great product and great service. As far as the ETC goes, I think it is the way to go. I have it on my LS1 and love it. Very responsive and built in cruise control. Good luck with your swap, there are several LSx MonteCarlos here on the forum, including an LS7.

Welcome aboard! Speartech is the man when it comes to the LSx set-ups. Please give him a call.

If you're after some ideas for the swap, please check out my LS1 swap web page.

you can run any 4l60e you want.. although i only recommend the 98+ LS1 bellhousing types...the earlier SBC ones bolt on, but they arnt as strong.

since you're buying a harness, any plug diffs (for example, some have the VSS on the other side of the trans) can be accommodated for.

sorry to hijack the thread, but an LT1 4L60E will work with an LSx? Cause Im looking to put an LS2 into a fox and I still have my fully built 4L60E here that I thought wouldn't work. would I just need an LSx torque converter?

by the way, say hello to the SC crew for me

LT1 4l60e won't work, I've searched. Plus the case is different. If you find an Ls1 4l60e case, I'm sure a trans shop can swap in the neccesary goods, no? Something to look into.
