Sell your stock harness/ecm and buy a Speartech one much much cleaner, I have an 05 gtoLs2 in my 69 also. I used an LS1ecm, vette pedal ($35 ebay), and vette TAC module,$40 ebay. After selling your gto stuff it would be cheaper going the Speartech route and LS1 computers are easier to tune.

well i would rather keep the ls2 computer and harness as its smaller to place anywhere ...we are also doing a 69 with an ls2 and a 6 speed ...we are in the process of figuring out the pinouts out the ecm hopefully someone will post all the ecm pinouts just like they did with the ls1s

i have an 06 ls2 so i dont know if it could be used with an ls1 computer because of the crank trigger wheel

Default Alternator hits frame

I just got my '05 LS2 in my 69 Camaro yesterday using ATS mounts, however, the alternator hits the frame slightly. Anyone else experienced this? I'm going to try to rotate the alternator case (if possible) which I think should make it clear.

I'm going to wire the stock factory harness and use the factory computer. I don't anticipate it being that much of a problem. If you have a wiring diagram you just find each wire on the diagram that you know you need and then find it on the harness. I don't think you need much more from J1 than a couple power and ground wires and the gas pedal wires. The only think I'm not sure of yet is whether or not the body control module is needed for anything.

Ha! The unexpected fitting problems *&%$^#. I used www.brphotrods.com engine mounts and my alternator cleared the frame by about 1/2". It looks like there are many little problems in using the GTO LS2 (oil pan, drive by wire, AC compressor, and alternator clearance). Let me add one new challenge: I got the T56 clutch master cylinder out of the 06 GTO and it is different than the Chevy ones. The bracket (which a got) to mount the clutch master cylinder is got and angle to take the Chevy master cylinder. So I got one of the Chevy clutch master cylinder but the connection to the transmission is not the same. Anyone have this problem?

Lets keep posting problems and solutions. Thanks.

yeah the gto has a master cylinder thats half inside the car and half out with a straight angle for some reason it looks like it could be bolted on with no adaptor plate ...as for the fittings yeah its a different setup ....i would try out the gto master first before moving on ....have you figured out the harness ...i got a hold of some pinouts ill be checking on monday and go from there ...i gave the harness a haircut lol so now its thinner and not as bulky as before.

I had the same problem with my gto t56, I used a ATS modified f body
hydraulics kit but it didn't fit the slave cylinder. I had to buy a 2001+ fbody
one and it bolted right up to the gto trans no problem. Also threw in the
LS7 flywheel, disc and clutch since I had it apart.

Rick, that 69 is beautiful. What did you do to those 1/4 panel gills to get that look, are they plated, polished or what? I haven't figured out the factory wirign harness pinouts yet but will post the wiring diagrams here. I did the same thing a few years ago on a Jeep with a Vortec V-6 in it very easily, this GTO harness is just a little more complicated.

I got my alternator to fit the frame by rotating the case halves 180 degrees. I then had to break off a couple of the little casting fins and grind a little off one corner. It should be fine now.

That's funny, they look like a brushed aluminum or something in the picture. I thought I could save a file of the wiring diagram from out Mitchell online at work but it won't let me. I can maybe look up some wires for you though.

Hello guys. Well I tried using a clutch master cylinder (CMC) with the 06 GTO T56 and it did not work. I had to figure a way to use the original CMC that came out of the 06 GTO. I used the after market bracket but decreased the angle on the bracket close to straight (the GTO CMC has a straight mounting base). I had to tap new mounting holes, since the ones on the bracket were for the Chevy CMC. This way the CMC shaft lines with the clutch pedal about halfway. I drilled a hole on the clutch pedal and used a pin to secure the shaft to it. It is functional but a bit on the hard side to push (not too bad but the idea is to have a comfortable ride) so some re-working may be done later. Any suggestions? This is my first experience with hydraulic clutch, do it gets easier to push with the engine on? I don't think so but if it did I would be done with this challenge. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

there is 2 ways of solving your problem ...one is using the chevy setup meaning you have to bring down the transmission and using an 01-02 slave cylinder ...and the other one is making a fitting that will convert your chevy master cylinder to the newer gto fitting ....there are plenty of places that can merge both connections for lil money

I got the Clutch Master cylinder(CMC) problem fixed. I went with he original 2006 GTO CMC that came with the engine and trans. It was easy and it works very well. I'll post some pictures soon.
