IT'S ALIVE!!! After a year and half.
I have been doing this frame off resto of a 55 Chevy shortbed with a 2001 A4 and after getting every part of the drive train hooked up/connected but not having the cab on the frame meant that I could not use the internal Painless harness but was told that I didn't need that to start the motor by connecting the necessary wires to the battery, fuel pump and starter selinoid that would get it started.
Well I disconnected the wires going to the coil packs, can't remember what they're called thus not sending any signal to the coils, bought a oil pressure tester from HarborFreight and connected to the oil pressure sender location and connected all necessary wires and the pressure quickly went to 30PSI, I started to feel real confident at this point but as you know it would never be that easy, I then connected the stock fuel pump and started getting pressurethen I smelled gas and saw gas spraying from the fuel filter and other areas, I stopped everything and started looking for steel fuel line online (I was panicing at this point, to be so close and have this problem.) then my wife asked me to double check the connectiton and sure as hell they were not tight, so now I tighten all connection and connect the fuel pump to check pressure and there wer no leaks
I then checked all connectiton once more and powered the fuel pump and make my connection to the battery necessary wires (3 wires, orange, purple and white) and she fired up on the first crank!!!
, talked about excited....The open header set off car alarms and the smoke detector in the house! It took about 3 minutes to find idle and ran for 5 minutes before I noticed that my alternator wire started to burn on the header so I shut her down. I'll clean everything up and start her again later.
I would like to thank each and everyone of you guys one here that has provided so much information but I must send a special shout out to Olly, Pat, Justin, Matt, Schitzo.
Thanks to all!!!, I'm so excited.

I still have a long ways to go before taking it out of the garage but so far all seems to be functioning correctly, oil pressure is ~40 to 45PSI at idle and the idle seems to be good, however the throttle response is somewhat delayed but I'll figure it, I started it up a couple more time and let it idle for 10 or more minutes and the best part is there's no leaks! now I'll start working on the smooth firewall on the cab, I'm finished welding and will start the body work tomorrow. I'm going to try to paint it this weekend if all goes well.
