Default 01 LS1 and 6-speed into a FJ40 LandCruiser?

I have the opportunity to buy an FJ40 and an 01 50K mile LS1 and Tk56 6-speed.

Sounds like a nice drive line swap for an FJ40.

My searches didn't find anything with the 6-speed.

Anyone ever hear of this combo?

Thanks,

Matt

The 6spd is a T56 not a tk56, mabey that is why you couldn`t find anything with the search. what were you looking to find out? The t56 was offered with LS1 motors in f-bodies, GTO`s and vettes, but the vette T56 is mounted in the back and difficult to use in conversions.

Don't know where I cam up with the TK thing. My bad. Thanks.

I was just curious if anyone had tried the LS1 T56 combo in an FJ.

I'm thinking it might place the shifter way too far to the rear to be pratical.

Thanks,

Matt

I know there have been some LS1 landcruiser swaps but I don`t remember what trans they were using.

I don't think it'd be possible to retain the transfer case with the LS1 in place. I work at an FJ40 parts house, and I've never even heard of this being done.

I just did a couple searches and I can`t find any landcruiser FJ40`s that have LS1`s. There are landcruiser conversions but no FJ40`s that I can find. The stick trans is the part that will make this swap difficult. With the autos most people look for a truck engine, trans, and transfercase assembly out of a 4X4 truck and swap it in as a unit. But when you want to use a stick trans I don`t know how you would do it since GM has not made a GEN III engine with a stick trans in a 4x4 vehicle.

You can get a NV4500 (5 speed) truck transmission in a new truck with a 6.0.

I'm just exploring the idea JIC I can get that Firebird for cheap and make it run. Sounds like the NV4500 would be a better tranny for my application. I'm guessing the LS1 bolt patterns would be the same as the 6.0 or that I could find a bell housing to make the transition to the NV4500.

Thanks,

Matt
