Default LS1 Toyota pickup

A mate over here ran an 11 with his mild LS1 Commodore Pickup and that got me to thinking about how well an LS1 motor would go in a light (2500lb) car so....

http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/7707/yeahbabypw3.jpg

It is a cab chassis and I have cleaned it up a bit since the photo. I'm hoping to bring it to the US next year for Hot Rod Drag Week but we'll see how it goes. Running a Th350 auto to a Toyota rear end

Will have some more pics up soon

thats awesome.

my dad has a 1984 toyota pickup. extended cab, 6' bed. 4WD, lifted 7" with 35" x 12.50" tires. stock toyota rears with 4.10s. its got a 400 sbc with home ported heads and an RV cam, a 700R4 and a chevy transfer case. Ive been trying to get him to drop a 6.0L out of a truck into it.

Good luck getting it to 2500 lbs. Im sure it can be done. my dad's weighs 3600 lbs. however thats with an all iron small block, heavier 700R4 tranny, transfer case, 4WD, and large wheels/tires.

edit:
heres a picture

we use the truck as a work truck though, not a drag truck.

Got the alternator mounted this week. Hopefully get the electric water pumps and cooling system done before the weekend

Zigroid: Mine is a cab chassis and will have 'glass seats, alloy dash, no heater box/fan assy, etc. We'll see about the weight. Either way it will be a lot lighter than the car it came out of

what kind of structural upgrades are you gonna do? youre definitely installing a roll cage, right? what is a "cab chassis"? just a regular cab, no Xtra cab?

It doesn't have a tray. Behind the rear window is just chassis, no 500lb tray

you'll want to have some suspension work done if you arent gonna run a bed. How about one of those aluminum trays that I saw lots of people using over there.. they cant weigh hardly anything, and you could strap some weight to the back if needed. It'd look, "complete", too. i don't like the stripped out car look.

What parts of the conversion were tricky? What did you do for a harness?

I use mine as a daily driver so I wanted all of my stock sr-5 gauges working the only part I found tricky was getting the stock speedometer to operate and the stock tac .The harness that I used was a stock 98 m6 in which I grafted into my harness.
