Default 2004 GTO LS1 into 1986 Mercedes 300 SWAP

motoren

w124 ftw

I've bought a 2004 Gto engine with a T56 for this project, looks like the oil pan for the gto will fit the mercedes better, the engine is on a boat to Norway right now, home in 4 weeks i guess, i had a trip to California in august and helped the guys at the wrecking yard taking the engine out myself.

In the meanwhile im gonna start working on the car abit, stiffer springs, adjustable swaybars ++. The whole car is going to be covered in Chrome foil to, Im trying to build a road legal track/drift car.

parts i have bought / ordered so far.

alurad

fuel press måler til fuel rail montering

oil press

vann temp

arp rådebolter

walbro gls392 fuel pump

Moroso oil acumulator

Need som helps and tips on the GTO engine, ECU program i should buy, ls1edit? hptuners? Ive got an 1998 LS1 running in my 67 Camaro, if i bought a program it would be nice to be able to use it on that to.

when you purchase hptuners, they give you 2 licenses so you can tune 2 different cars.

nice, cant wait to see some progress pics
124 framerails are wider than 201's, so exhaust should fit around the steering box.
Hopefully the crossmember wont take too much modification to fit the front sump pan in.
why did you change out the fuel pump? the stock bosch pump should flow enough.

dont they give you 2 year/model licences.
example, 99 f-body and 03 corvette, then you can tune as many 99fbody/03vettes as you want.

I heard my 98 engine is a bit different from 99 + engines when it comes to tuning, but haven figured out what it is about yet.

I didnt think about the stock bosch pump in the tank, that it would be able to give enough pressure, im not sure what the fuel pressure is on the stock 3 liter inline 6 motor i have in it now. but now i got walbro pump if i need it and a spare anyway.

By the looks of it the oil pan is gonna fit pretty good, and that is one of the biggeste issues. And the tunnel, but i had to weld to oil pan to fit it in my Camaro 67, so i guess i can handle another one

Not anymore. Now you get 8 credits. LS1 engines are 2 credits each, so you can do both of your cars and still have enough credits to do 2 more. Unlimited year/model is (IIRC) 6 credits, so you would need to buy extra credits to do two of those.

Good luck with your swap.

http://bilder.driftfun.com/Mercedes-W124

only site i have is a gallery, but i havent really started working on the car yet. But now i think i got almost everything i need to get the engine in and started. I have marked the loose ends on the engine loom with stickers with text on, so i know what it is and how to wire it. the reason I havent really started working on the car yet is that ive had som problems with my other daily driver (Chevy van) which has made me drive the mercedes with the engine that is in it now . But ill sort it out .

http://www.driftfun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=248 <- im using that link to keep track of what i have bought and what i need to buy, and what i have done and what i need to do , the finished things are in green. Most of it is in norwegian, but maybe it might be interesting. I got hptuners and a obdii plug for the loom and everything, so i can power up the ecu, read it and remove the anti theft system and get it started when i wire it up.

Hey Hersker Hans:

I also thought of the LS into W124 swap; I'm doing an E30-LS1 just now. I'd like to see how the LS fits into the W124 -- will you have to trim or remove some of the "forward firewall" to clear the aft end of the cylinder heads? Will the GTO oil pan (front sump) clear the engine cross-member and the steering track rod? Electrical system integration? I also have a W124 (1989); evey time I drive it I think: "Nice car. Would be even better with an LS engine and a 6-speed" Mine is an automatic as Mercedes gave up on the 5-speed after only one model year (1987) and less than 200 units sold in the USA. If I ever do get on to an engine swap in my W124, can I get your help in getting a set of brake and clutch pedals?

Thanks & good luck -- more pics!
