Default Going to build LS1 S13....Need rigidity input...

I need to know what i need to do for chassis support. Putting an LS1 in a 1989 240sx coupe. I want to make sure this car can handle an LS1 with a cam and take racing punishment. What are some recommendations and how much? Also i need to get an LS1 motor and tranny for this. Where can i get one and how much do they usually go for?

Any help appreciated.

if you arent capable of even finding a motorset your going to have a lot of fun sourcing what you need to complete the swap..

now that im done being an *******, you dont need to do antyhign to the chassis.

That doesnt mean theres no room for improvement. You can do alot to stiffen it up and you should. 240s are made from a 160HP engine. Add Xxxx amount of power and it will twist believe me. A hard launch with gobs of torque will make your doors not close right. Start with a cage, power brace, fender braces and strut bars. All of those 1000HP cars have atleast 10pt cages I'd hate to see you do the swap, which doesnt look like you know much about (theres alot of info on here) and then have to twist your body.

Im getting the kit from hinson and i can do the swap myself. I was just curious for rigity because i want to do it right and get input from those who have done it. As for asking for an LS1 i want to see what prices ill be looking at,theres a difference between making sure im right and not knowing anything about it.

if you can afford the hison kit im sure you can work a deal to get one of their complete motorsets also.

You can get a motorset anywhere from 4000-6500 some get luck and can track one down for $3500. The stock chassi will hold an LS1 just find if you really think you might need something to keep it together than get a custom cage via your local cage builder. But seriously its not needed. Rubber mounts and independent rear subframes (READ NOT SOILD REAR AXLE) allow room for toruqe to be distributed without "twisting" the frame.

A good idea would be to get upgraded axles.
