IT RUNS !!!
I finally got around to getting the time to work on my project, if any of you were following my project, it is a 71 Chevelle ground up with a 99 LS1 and a Viper T56.
Well.. I got the project to the point of were I could start it up last Aug. but on starting up.. zero or very low Oil pressure so I shut it down and ripped the engine out and took the oil pan off. I inspected the Oil Pump and o-ring. but could not find anything wrong.. so the project sat until last week.
I picked up a new LS6 oil pump and put everything back together and dropped it back in last weekend. Finally got a upper rad hose that worked ok. and It FIRED RIGHT UP...!!
After a min or so.. all of the lifter noise that I had before was NO MORE !... no leak , no miss's so.. after making sure I had brakes and steering.. I backed it out and down the street I went for a quick test.. Success.. my modify Viper Throw out bearing worked and I could shift on the move.
Didn't have much road time as with out all of the lights and no Exhaust pipes and muffers.. I could only make a quick test without getting the neighboors on me..LOL
By no means is my project street ready.. exhaust piple and muffers, much electrical, Trans Tunnel and alot of small stuff to do before it is ready.. but I am so glad it is running at this point !
It will be a good many more hours of work before it can be street ready and go cruz'in.
First problem.. Altenator was not putting out anything..
You can see my project on cardomain.com.. I need to update it but check it out .. let me know what you think..

Way to go Brian! Ain't that just one of the best feelings in the world when it fires and moves under its own power? You got all winter now to finish it up, will we see you at the Spring Goodguys?

Good to hear you got it figured out. Any part numbers on the radiator hoses? I guess replacing the oil pump should be a routine step of the swap. I plan on doing it before I put the motor back in again. I just finished most of my trans tunnel this week.

Congrats on getting it running! Great feeling isnt it???
I just wanted to give you an idea on the Altenator not working. This is an f-body motor right?? When I first got my car started the alt wasnt working. There is that single wire going into the alt which "triggers" it to charge.
When I did a continuity check on that wire, it was good all the way up til the plug. About 1/16th of an inch from the plug the wire was screwed up.
Check it out.. If you have the same issue...its not hard to take that plug apart (weatherpack connector), and solder a new wire into the plug insert. You'll see what I mean. I gave myself alittle extra wire when I re-installed the plug. Because it was stretched before.
Good lookin car and great project! Keep us posted!

Again.. Thanks all..
Ghetto - thanks, I will check that Alt wire next (hope the Alt is good).
Yeah.. I think any used GenIII should replace the Oil pump after it has been sitting around for any long period of time... I have read way to many threads and post on low or zero Oil pressure, most with no reason (with the exception for the o-ring) and the fix it just to replace the pump.
I lost my tail light when I removed the steering column, and on replacing it.. I had no tail light. I check the plugs once, but need to go over and check all of it better. Any ideas ?
Need to get it to the muffer shop without getting stop by the local police.. will be hard, since the road that I take there is right past the Police station. LOL...

Brake or tail lights? I don't think the steering column would have anything to do with it. Might have knocked something loose in the dash.Originally Posted by bczee

Don't worry about the cops. They might stop you, but I doubt you would get a ticket. Just pop the hood and show it off.
Shealth. it is a stock 98' Camaro GM number 10271554.. I forget the AC Delco number the my parts house converted it to.. I will look tonight and post later tonight.
The lower is used a stock 99 Camaro hose also. Just had to twist it a bit. but don't see a problem so far.
Well my local Cops give out a lot of ticket around here something.. so.. better not chance it if I don't have too.
Shealth.. your using the Hooker header.. how close does it come to the Brake Prop Valve in its stock location. I already converted to Stainless Steel, so It would be a task to relocated, if not more cost. If the $$$ work out later.. I will pickup a set later. but right now.. just using the stock manifolds.

The other guys that I have seen using the hookers ended up moving the prop valve. I just got a set of stainless pre bent lines so we will see what happens. I don't think there is enough space to keep the valve in its stock location. I plan on rebending the lines a little and try to move the prop valve to the top side of the frame. If that doesn't look doable (I don't think that's a word) I will be bending new lines and selling the stainless ones. This is on my list for this week/next week so we will know soon.
What lights are not working?
What lights are not working?
Tail lights, turn signals and emgercy flasher.. I will be looking into it again this weekend.. pulling all of the connectors and testing if I can.. I know the Steering column connector works its way around to lighting system due to the turn signal system.
Anyone have any input.. even the wild and stupid ones will help.
Thanks...

I was having the same problem. No brake lights turn signals or flashers. I bought a new turn signal switch and every thing works now. Hope this helps.

I'm not seeing the notch in this picture ... Do you have one that is closer to the notch ?

Thanks !
Do you know how deep that notch is ? Do you know the dimensions of the notch ?
I would like do notch mine before I drop the motor to save on time.
Looks like it goes almost all the way to the motor mount.

BlackRose.. do you have the part number for that switch.. and were did you get it from ? (local parts store or one of the internet/mail store like OPG or YearOne ?)
thanks for the info.
thanks for the info.

I got it from the local Parts Depot. I also found it at Parts America cheaper than Parts Depot. The one I have is Standard part# TW12, Parts America Has several to choose from 38.00 to 45.00.
