Default ls1 into a jeep wrangler, write up? wiring question

ive searched the internet and havent found a heavily detailed write up that involve an ls1 being put into a jeep wrangler

does anyone know of a link or has done this engine swap so i can ask them a few questions:

-when i get the ls1 pcm wiring harness and connect the computer to power and have everything pluged in, is that all i need to run the engine once it is connected to ingnition

basicly my mind is being boggled with this damn wiring issue, i have everything else understood

Quite frankly, the wiring is the easiest part, IF you send the harness and computer to someone like Speartech. You will get the harness back, figure out how you want to route the harness, plug in the connectors, and hook up the 4 or 5 labeled wires. Done. It was the best $800ish dollars I spent. AND if you have any questions he would be a source for answers.

Save the cash for something else. Get the wiring diagram and search this site for all the info you need. Takes time and patience but when it fires up it's feels good. It's not that hard to do.
Thanks

x2 on Speartech. Great service. John is very helpful. While the computer and harness were away, i worked on the rest of the 5000 things that needed to be done.

2006 Gen IV 5.3L w/ 4l60E into 1998 Wrangler TJ.

actually ive talked to a few people on this forum and they said that if i get a good wiring diagram i could make the harness work myself which would save about 700 dollars

also on your jeep, did you upgrade transfer case/axles and rear end? what did you do about your fuel pump

might just be me, but i didn't swap a 5.3L vortec in place of a perfectly running 4.0L to save money. the $700 or so would include flashing the computer (removing emissions, torque tables, security, etc). but yeah the wiring itself would be fairly easy. you will still have money wrapped up in relays, fuses, diagnostic port/light.

i am using the stock intank fuel pump and i have a super dana 44 rear axle. t-case is the stock NP231 w/ AA SYE.

Hey guys, I'm new here so go easy on me. I recently bought a 2007 5.3L w/ 4L60E and NP8. I am putting it in my '93 YJ so I guess that I am in the same boat as Videomaker. I have done a lot of research here in the past few weeks about what I will need and whatnot.
So far, this is what I have: (I know this isn't a 4wd forum so i'll try to keep it to the motor stuff.)
The engine is coming with the PCM and wire harness. The deal is that this thing has the electronic throttle control on it so I have to go back and get the pedal and tpi sensor. I am going to get a Walbro inline pump to bump up the psi to the operating pressure for the new motor since my old one only puts out like 30 psi (I think like 60 psi or so is required). I am going to get some parts from Novak Enterprises which they will also flash the PCM too. The motor is a flex fuel which I didn't know that meant that there are a bunch of fuel solenoids(?) that are required for the engine to run on ethanol. Anybody know anything on that? Anyway, I am looking forward to chatting with you guys about this. I have wanted to do this for about 8 years so I am excited about it. The money is already starting to flow...

I sent my 5.3 wiring harness and computer to www.lt1350.com they did an excellent job for 325 bucks including sending it back to me and redoing the computer. I am using www.mountainoffroad.com motor mounts. they are top notch, I used them in my 5.0 CJ7 swap.

Default 98 Wrangler 4.8 swap

I did 4.8 swap into a 98 Jeep wrangler last summer. Had a 2.5, 5 speed.

I works great. 2001 4.8. Howell harness and computer runs the engine. Stock Jeep computer runs everything else. Autometer tach and used the stock speedo, temp and oil pressure guages and senders.

Novak bell housing and transfer case adapter and hydraulic clutch..

Made my own motor mounts. Transfer case and trans moved forward about 3 inches.

Hooker block hugger headers. Flowmaster 2 into 1 merge into 3 inch cat into 2.5" dyno max muffler and tail pipe.

4.0 radiator cools fine even at 90 degrees.

Stock fuel pump puts out 50 psi and is regulated at the pump in the tank. Single stock pressure line up to the fuel rail. The 2001 4.8 has a pressure line and return line on the fuel rail. I ran the pressure line to the fuel rail and blocked the return line at the fuel rail. It seems to run great. Pulls cleanly up to 5500 rpm.

The 4:10 gears make for brisk accelaration.

The V8 sound is great. Mileage around town is about 17mpg.

Any questions e-mail me.

See I read about that in my Haynes manual for my Jeep. It says that if you block the return line, the pressure will rise to over 90 psi. i was thinking that that would be bad for the pump, possibly burning it out. How long have you been running your engine that way? I wish I had read that a few days earlier, I just bought an inline pump. Meh, I'm still gonna use it....

You would be putting more stress on the pump by using it on an LS1 and forcing it to put out 60psi, and it will shorten the life. But it probably wouldn`t have a drastic reduction in life span like blocking the line and deadheading the pump would. I have read that a few people have left the stock factory TPI pump in there 3rd gen camaros when they swapped an LS1 in and they ran it for a couple years. The stock TPI pumps were made to run at 45 PSI.
