Well the trailblazers have an optional 5.3 V-8 available as well as the 6.0 that comes in the Trailblazer SS. I imagine if you could find some of the part numbers that come on these vehicles it may make a pretty straighforward swap.

I don't know how moddable the I6 is. Maybe I should do some checking. About to buy the wife a new people hauler so the trail blazer will be mine for some time since it's paid for and still under extended warranty. I've seen complete 6.0L truck engines for cheap. When the warranty is over I'd like to try the swap. From the outside looking in it would appear to be an easy swap as I have friend who has a LS style v8 in his 03 and there does not appear to be many changes in the model year. I'd prefer to keep my trail blazer instead of buying the new SS.

whipple used to make a supercharger kit for the 4.2L but I not sure if they make it anymore.
I found this link don't know how old it is but may be something you may want to look into.

It would be cheaper to get on with the 5.3 then swap whatever you wanted. The parts are out there to do it mounts, radiator, harness... But it may cost more than just buying one that already has one.
I got a 06 trailblazer (non ext)with the 4.2 I6 and it's gutless under 5000rpm's I miss the low end of a OHC v-8!
And they discontinued the wipple for the 4.2 and I have heard a turbo on one.

I assume you mean OHV, not OHC? ![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)
I wouldn't say it's completely gutless below 5k, but it does need some RPMs to move. My mom has an '02 EXT with the 4.2 and for what she needs, it works great (if anything, it's now too big since there's only one kid left at home these days).
In the strictest sense, it's an easy swap since the parts are all there. But, it's going to be a lot of labor and the parts aren't cheap. It would seriously be much smarter to sell yours for a 5.3-equipped model.

I hard PCM's for less will get you a pcm tuned for $150..and they are saying it wakes em up quite a lil bit..Then add exhaust and intake and you'll def. have a noticable difference over stock...
As for the gutlessness..they do seem to be soft..but once you get em moving then stomp on it..that downshift and watch the rpm's shoot up she'll pick up speed quick.
As for the turbo..that would be nice...i am sure it could be done.
