Default 6.0 lq4 in a 2000 camaro help

has anyone done this beffore i set in my engine a week back now i am trying to piece it togther but some things are way different like the alterntor does anyone know if i have to mount it like the trucks do... if anyone has any info please share... thanks....

This should be a straight forward swap if you had an LS1 to start with. Swap your intake and accessories and accessory drive over from your LS1 to your 6.0 and your done..... If you were starting from a V6 Camaro you'll have a few more issues but seeing as you have the motor already installed you have gotten by the most difficult issue.

Default thats what i thought

but yeah everything bolts up expect the the alternator the ls1 has a place where to bolt it on the bottom the 6.0 lq4 does not i was just thinking of using the truck parts for that part of the install does anyone else know what else i can do any info would be great....

I think you have to drill the hole and tap the threads in the boss on the block.. as the LQx doesn't have the same bolt hole there as the LS1 does.

that won't mess up the block..... if it dose not am game for saving like 250 for truck parts......

I believe there should be a boss already cast into the block for the mount, its just not drilled. If you drill it I would measure the depth of that hole in your old LS1 motor and make sure that you do not drill it any deeper.

I don`t think that a truck accy drive would be much help to you since you would have to move the idler pulley down to clear your throttle body, and the alternator would be sticking through the hood.

I didn't even bother drilling it on mine. Just used two bolts. Been working just fine for over 3 years now.
