Yeah, they're both very nice boat manufacturers. I def. can't go new on one. $400k is VERY steep for me! I'd have to live in it for that kind of money and mortgage it like a house. I like the fact that you can get a 07' 47' Fountain w/the new tripple 700sci engines and nxt drives!

New to the 2007 engine line up, MasterCraft Power's LY-6 by Indmar is a new high-tech inboard that delivers horses and torque that rivals the big blocks in a smaller, lighter, package. Based on the new Gen IV Vortec 6000 truck engine the new LY-6 offers advanced technology called VVT (Variable Valve Timing), which allows Indmar engineers to program the LY-6's ECM to deliver an unusually long and tall power curve. It's brain is Delphi's most advanced water resistant ECM (Electronic Control Module) the MEFI-5 hardware/software system. The MEFI-5 system is custom calibrated by Indmar to provide maximum performance and drive ability. By custom calibrating the ECM to match hull design requirements and intended boat application this process allows boat and motor to perform as one seamless unit. The three-dimensional system precisely manages fuel, ignition and air. It is programmed to deliver the power skiers and wake boarder's need, plus the classic turnkey starts, unhesitating dependability and fuel efficiency that only Indmar can deliver.

I'm waiting on some pics, but the guy has all the marine parts that came off a ls-1 malibu. He said it was a full alum. block that used the coil packs, the standard ls-1 water pump, etc. He pretty much has all the acces. from what I gathered besides the tb(uses a std. type camaro/trans am tb) and coil packs. All the ones I've seen that say ls-1 corvette engine on the internet aren't showing pics of the engine. The one's I've seen are the older malibu corvette boats that use the Calloway 383 lt-1 style engine, but not the lt-1 style intake.

the ls1 lives for the high rpm, a boat is like a limo it needs torque. save your money and put and iron motor in it. you will like it a lot more. weight is not a big issue in a boat.

Most boats run at higher RPM than cars. A car might be able to coast along at less than 2000rpm and 25hp on the highway, but most boats run over 3k at over 100hp to stay on plane.
My dads boat usually runs from 3000rpm up. At 3k it is nicely on plane and running ~35mph, if you pull back to 2500 it is barely on plane and doing about 25mph.
It all depends on your propeller/impeller size and what gear ratio your running in the lower unit/v-drive. Most production boats run under 6000, but for the high performance stuff the sky is the limit.
