You might want to contact Loyde down at Fast Fieros. He has done a lot of work with GM and mated LSx engines with 4T65E-HD transaxles. He could save you from having to redue a lot of R and D he has already completed.

GM Performance Parts sells the hard parts to make the 4T65E-HD an extremely sturdy transaxle. There are quite a few turbo Grand Prixs well over 500 WHP.
Thanks, I'll keep him in mind. Bob

Keep it transverse. Use the g-force dog ring transaxle. It will be sweet.

Also check out the various gearsets available from PPG:

http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/

I am sure one of the import transaxles can be adapted to work. Call Frank at The DriveShaft shop when you need custom half shafts.

Andrew
Thanks Andrew! The g-force transmission looks like something that may just work great in this Ferrari! Bob

Hey just a side note/question not that I'm questioning the durability/effectivness of that G-force trans but why is it everything that is intended for the "Tuner" crowd RED?

Hmm, well this Ferrari is red, maybe we should put a Honda engine in it. Bob

I'd leave the blower off. You'll hear it coming. Put a stoker crank in it and keep it NA.

Cool project. Anybody who watched Magnum P.I. wanted one of those 308/328s.

When I first checked that link I said figures that schizz is red. But then I thought hell it would look great in the Ferrari. You really gotta make sure you keep us up to date on this thing I think it's gonna be cool as hell.

Your welcome Bob. Please do all you can to keep it manual. Sports cars need 3 pedals. The G-force transaxle will be sweet. The only possible issue I see is the shifter since it's designed for an air shifter. I am sure you guys can come up with something. I am thinking push button activation....

EPP, GREAT STUFF!! Not a knock on you, more the disbelievrs, but this is hardly groundbreaking stuff. Norwood in TX used to do SBC Ferraris in the 80s and 90s. They were some of the fastest ones ever tested by the magz (R&T, C&D, etc) They made a few SBC GTOs (HOLY SACRILEGE BATMAN!!) and of course THIS BBC Land Speed car Don't know how feasible the 9inch/ZF deal is in the 308, but....

I had a bad experience with you guys a while back (~600 dollar bill for a custom crush bent y-pipe with booger welds and leaks at the joint that I had to have repaired elsewhere). I've heard lots of good from other people locally, and I send people your way quite often, but we'll just say I'm a little scarred from my previous dealings with your company. I understand this isn't your typical business practice, but as no other reparations are forthcoming, an occasional jab lessens my pain a little. That's why I put the jest smilie.

Now, get back to posting pictures, I like the project. You may want to lean on the FWD V6 community some for the transmission and mating concepts if you run into issues, we have a lot of knowledge regrading the necessary mating and transmission control issues. I'm happy to contribute any knowledge I can.

You should talk to Mendeola and see if they can work something out with you. I would see if they had a setup that would allow you to knock out the trunk, turn the engine around and still get the correct rotation for the backwords setup.

This might give you more weight over the rear tires than wanted, just keep the gas tank full up front.

Yeah as far as I know the Imp SS/Mante SS and the GXP with the LS4's still use the 4T65e just the HD model. The company I linked Intense seems to think there Trans can take a beating but it's kinda hard to get a number out of them.
