sbc with vortech heads, gm hot cam, gluide and a brand new rear set up, 8.8 with ladder bar suspension works well for what it is.

ok, things you must know about LS1s. #1 they are overpriced. #2 buy a 6.0 LQ4 truck motor.

now, i know what you are thinking, LS1 is aluminum and you want to keep the weight down. well the cast iron block motors only weigh 70 lbs more. an LS1 will be $1500+ an LQ4 would be from $700 - $2000.

as for the answer to your question.. a LSx motor with a cam and nitrous would easily push that car into deep into the 9s. and still make 15+ mpg

I think he could probably do the same but just not get as good of gas mileage with that setup he has.

Its a nice little toy and is very simple.

There is a little more then 70 pound difference from a LS1 to a LQ9 when you are talking a complete motor.

i'm not too worried about the weight. might be better to keep some on the front, maybe she will stay down then.

12.0s i would think it would run a little better than that. i have only ran 1/8 and it has gone 7.40s na and 6.40s on 150shot and that was before the rear swap, so far been to the track once and it went a 7.26 na. i would like to have the cage back in the car before i spray it again

that might be because of the diffrent accessories. im talking about the cast iron block only compared to the LS1s aluminum block. id like to see someone actualy weigh bare blocks only back to back..

I should be able to do that if I can find a scale. I have one of each. 12.0's and 117 is turtle slow I might add.

7.2's is low 11's NA already with an old junky Vortec motor he has in their now.
