Talking temperature on lsx motors

What is "normal, average" temp for these motors?I'll be putting one in my s10 w/6speed and just wondering what the temp should stay around. It will have the Patriot Package and suppose to be about 508 hp on motor,so just wanting to make sure that I dont go overboard on the HP in a s10 and it not stay cool.It will be a everyday driver,Thanks

210-220 depending on outside ambient and temp of t-stat. Since I am in south texas I am realistically looking for 210-225 give or take a little with the a/c on.

you sould not get to panic mode it will shut the motor off for you. I think the shut off it at 238 or something and it will not let you restart it intill it drops a good bit.

Default temp

My conversion runs at 150-160 cruising and idles in traffic at around 180-190. This is with a 190 thermostat also. And before anyone says it, yes, my gauge is right, I checked it with a heat gun in the radiator. The only thing in my cooling system that isnt aluminum is the radiator and its copper, but its a huge 4 core. I think thats why my motor stays so cool. It takes around 2.5 gallons of coolant. Hope this helps, Josh

I have no A/C (actually nothing but WP and Alt) on my car. With an iron 5.3, Al 5.7 and iron 6.0, the temperature always sits between 185-195* with a stock t-stat and a Griffin 2 pass aluminum 27.5x19" radiator with a Ford Taurus fan on high speed only at temps > 175*. This is in an '86 Mazda RX7.

I have AC and a 180 thermostat. I also have an engine compartment that is notorious for being difficult to cool motors in due to limited air flow. My motor stays steady at 180 cruising and will occasionally sneak up to 205 in heavy traffic on a hot day with the AC on. I have a 3 core radiator and electric fan set to come on at 195. The 350 SBC I took out of there was never that easy to cool. My motor is milder than yours for sure though.

It will so do this on a conversion as well unless you remove it from the ECM or move the temps up so far.

dead normal nothing to worry about. Although not good for performance modern engines are made to take high heat conditions.
