Question 3.4 - ls1 t-56 6 speed question! PLEASE HELP!

I'm swapping my old 3.4 out for a ls1 6-speed.....Also,I'm throwing out the old interior to make way for new out of a 2000-02. Since all gauges, engine, trans, computer, radio are being replaced, will I still need my 3.4 harness for anything? I've heard I need a custom harness, but since EVERYTHING is pretty much being swapped, is this still true? Thanks!

If you replace the entire harness with all the fuseboxes and everything else you won`t need a custom harness. But this would be a very involved project, because in order to get all the wiring harnesses to plug into eachother you may have to replace every wiring harness/fusebox in the car. IE: the motor, dash, fuel tank harness, taillight harness, door power window/lock harnesses etc. I`m not sure what harnesses are the same between the v6 and LS1 car, there are probably some parts that are the same and could be re-used, but I do know that it is more complicated than just swapping the engine and dash harness.

Thanks for the info.! Is the Dash harness and the engine harness 2 seperate harnesses? If so, any idea where I could find them and maybe some links to sites where people have done this swap before? Thanks again...I really appreciate your help!

The engine harness and dash harness are 2 separate harnesses. You could try checking the for sale section here, e-bay, or calling junkyards.

Are you going to do this without a donor car? It will get expensive very fast, you would be much better of to find a wrecked LS1 F-Body and then part it out.

There are links in the LSx conversion car website thread, but that was for a 3800 to LS1 swap. I don`t know of anyone who swapped the motor, trans, and full interior into an older car. I think it would be more cost effective to sell the V6 and buy an LS1 car....unless you have a clean V6 body and find a wrecked LS1 car.

I don't plan on using a donor car. I have friends that find all this stuff for me pretty reasonable. The car I have is in great shape, it just has sentimental value to me and I really want to keep it. I figure that I get to keep the car, plus learn alot from doing it myself. Do you know of any threads or links to sites where people have done this swap? Thanks man!
