Default Has anyone made a LSX work with a 153 tooth Flywheel?

I assume the major issue would be selecting a different starter, and customizing the mounting to get the starter gear closer to the crankshaft centerline?

McLeod is working on the needed adpater/block that allows the mini starters (Hitachi models) to mount with a 153 tooth flywheel/flexplate. Give them a call, the project should be done by now. You will need to grind off a small portion of the block, that was used during the factory assembly proceedure, but not needed otherwise.

I would assume another problem would be torque converter bolt access. There's already nexto to no room with the big flywheel.

I'm looking at this for manual trans applications, where the truck sized LS1 flywheel is too big to fit in the bellhousing (such as that of a ZF 6speed corvette transmission)

Don't take this the wrong way but why would you want to use the ZF 6spd instead of the T56?

My guess is that Chevy Fanatic wants to put an LSx type engine in a C4 Corvette that already has a ZF. Am I correct?

From what I understand rebuilding a ZF is very expensive. I seriously doubt that there is a price advantage by going with a ZF. Especally when you have to purchase fancy flywheels and billet nose mini starters to make it all come together.
