love it!! I wonder how long the independent rear suspension is going to last?Upgraded the axel shafts yet? An awd (future plans) ls1 600whp pump gas evo will be insanity on any road course. Turbo lag? what turbo lag? ha!

the vic jr. intake is for "future growth"
the current plan is 600 rwhp, but thats only the current plan

azooz already ripped the rear suspension out ( aint waiting for it to blow), and guess what ?? a 8.8 off a stang fits like a glove! ( you should see how well the evo coil overs fit the stang rear end ! )
he should have pics of it mocked up on the car soon.

it doesn't

mybe in the future ( after he beats some AWD cars from a dig), he will think of converting it .
he was thinking along the lines of a transfer case, front diff, and an oil pan from an envoy ( diff goes through the pan). but for now it will remain rear wheel drive with a solid axle rear.

That's a total waste to rip apart an evo. What's left of the evo!

Talk about quit being a ricer, take an RX7 or a Nissan 240 and do a transplant.

I like engine swaps and conv/hybrid projects but choose a rear wheel drive in the beginning to make your life much easier.

According to him it still has the original interior/dash, suspension, brakes, etc. From the diff forward is custom. I wish we could see an under body shot. I want to see how much fab work was done to make the trans tunnel, front cross member, steering rack, etc...... I guess the same can done to any AWD car if you think about it. The rear end and drive shaft tunnel is already there.

I love it. When that car gets the AWD working right the launches are going to be like a rocket ship.

quick update:

it just amazes me how things seem to "fit" on that car; the owner removed the rear subframe and diff, and put a foxbody stang rearend under there and it fit like it was made to be under an evo

the rear coilovers fit exactly on the shock ford shock mounts and you gys should see how well stang wheels and tires fit in there.
he had to fab a set of lower control arms (slightly bent ) inorder to have them mount to the mustang lower control arm brackets and the evo's control arm front braket .
the uppers were ditched and the owner is going with a torque arm setup .

just for fun we decided to slap on my 28x10.5-15 on there thinking they won't even fit in the wheel well, guess what?? they fit like the car was built for them, they tuck in nicely and there is about 3/4 to 1 inch clearance btw. coilover and inside of tire and just some minor rear bumper trimming that might take place just to make sure no rubbing happens when the slick grows.

and i don't know if i mentioned it before , but the steering is done with a fox body mustang rack.

and to answer why he didn't go with an rx7 or a 240,,,, well there are 3 lsx rx7's in our group and 2 240's ( one being a work in progress), so doing any one of those would just be "boring"

i should have some pics of the under side and rear suspension pretty soon. the owner already has a ton of pics documenting progress and should be uploading them on a site pretty soon.

look in youtube under ls1 evo for vids of it running and "testing" the stock rear end.

next to come is the roll cage which will be tied in to the suspension as much as possible, some propper engine ans suspension tunning and a few loose ends here and there.

then : more videos!

Dude it so annoying when people dont read the whole thread. he already had stated that the car was currently rwd and later the awd would come.

To the guy with evo two thumbs up. I think any body that has actually performed this HEAVY fabrication would never talk sh*t cause they can understand the time, effort and joy involed in completing something like this.

Wow. That ford 8.8 feels at home.

2nd picture, is that tire rubbing the fender? What size slicks are those?

You guys have a lot of talent. Truly amazing. Now show us some wheel stand with that RWD Evo.

the tire rubs slightly on the bumper, in that pic it was moved to the back to make sure it doesn't rub when the tire grows. it just needs to be trimmed from the inside.
tires are 28x10.50-15 M/T.
