loooool,

finally he speaks

azooooz took the car out for some "testing" , here are the vids : (sorry for the crappy quality)

we let the car idle for a while and the fans were cycling on and off, which is a good thing cause it meant they were doing their job cooling the car

next on the list like the boss said is to ditch the torque arm setup it has ( it worked pretty good , but was flimsy and didn't offer much adjustment) in favor of traditional upper stang arms.

i'll aslo begin the direct port plumbing ( or just swap the itake i had on my stang ). oh , and now would be a good time for a ring and pinion swap ( 2.7 in there currently ). thinking of going 3.27

a few hings happend over the past few days ( didn't have a camera so no pis today );

we installed 3.55 gears instead of the anemic 2.7 it had on there. the guys also completely gutted the car and removed whats not neccesary: the side windows were removed in favor of lexan units, the dash was removed and gutted, now the dash board houses all those guages that were on the roll cage. the rear suspension is getting a remake the torque arm will be ditched and upper control arms like on a stang will be put in .

Wow, absolutely awesome. Incredible.

I have to say one of the cooler ideas I heard in this thread was the '427Z' idea.

the rear suspesion is kinda done, we'll be redoing the arms and where they mount to make them a bit more beefy . it now has a foxbody type of setup. the car uses custom made curved lower control arms that mounted to the stock evo lower arm mounting points. those will be ditched infavor of straight peices that mount to a new location.

azooooz also said something about getting a carb style manifold to help the car breathe better, since he noticed the car seemed choked at hi rpm's.

no pics yet , but i'll snap some today.

more updates
the rear suspension is done for the most part; the lower arms were changed to straight style ones and a new brace was welded inplace to act as their pickup point.

the torque arm was ditched in favor of mustang style upper control arms. a mounting brace was made for these and adjustable upper arms were ordered ( i hope )

there are still a few gussets to be welded , but the rear is pretty much done.

direct port plans are still on hold ( i didn't start it , but i did bring over my plumbed and ready l-76 manifold for him to try ). i think he'll run a single nozzle setup in the begining and when the direct port is done the single nozzle will bee the 2nd stage i guess.

we also need to get some new rear rotors, cause the ones on there are pretty much warped .

patience grasshoper , patience

i agree, it needs a few minutes with a grinder and then a few coates from a rattle can and it should be set. that will hopefully be done as soon as the gussets are welded in.

Hey man, Please redo those lower control arms... they way you have that rear end set up in the is going to get someone killed... suspension welding is not something that should be left up to amateurs. Also how did you go about calculating any of the angles for this project?

I dont mean to be a downer, but all I see is a 400hp death rocket.

Seriously those LCAs are going to come apart quickly... you cant just weld a tube onto another tube, you must first "fishmouth" the joint. Also what did you weld the "brackets" to? On a unibody car you have to brace things in multiple locations because the uni-body is nothing more than thin formed sheet metal.

Like I said I hate to be a jerk, but I am seriously concerned about the safety of whoever is going to drive this thing... sometimes fabrication is best left up to professional fabricators for a reason.

not at all adam, i really appreciate your input.

the welds will be redone soon ,and i greee on the whole fishmouth technique. there will be extra braces welded on there. as for the braces; they are weldedand bolted to several locations on the unibody ( the thickest spots we could find ), its also tied in to the cage.

as for the angles, they are setup to mimic a foxbody stang with lower control arm relocation brackets. its hard to see in the pics ( especially when the diff is drooped down quite a bit), i'll see if i can get pics of them with the car on the ground.we're trying to get a good deal of anti-squat in there.

once again , i appreciate your comments and please feel free to chime in anytime you see something that is not right.

FINALLY SOME PROGRESS

got the lexan widows cut and installed

we decided to take the car out to the local spot for some "testing"

car ran good , still needs some fine tuning .

so after that it was back to the shop and work on the direct port started ,
its no nitro dave setup , but it gets the job done ( i hope ):

and here is a video of a nasty little 510 B with an ls1 in it

we should be starting on the N2O wiring soon , as well as swapping the rear upper control arms with adjustable ones. a new set of tires is going on there too, cause the old ones got too much testing

That is a really cool swap, I like the guy on that thread who thinks he can do the horsepower/L calculation by saying if we put two 4 cylinders together, then it would have 480 hp....And that the pushrod motor doesn't make any power because it doesn't rev to 8k to 9k. All I have to say is any 4 banger with more than 300-400 hp will have a crap load of problems vs. the american v8. I want to ask some of this people how much money they have in their cars to run 12s...I know those parts are not cheap. I will take my 93, with its lowly pushrod motor and have much more fun with it then an evo.
