The hard fuel lines look pretty beat up also. If that is what I am seeing zip-tied up near the LCA mounts...

I have owned both an EVO VIII and an LS car. Am i the only one who thinks this is a waste of an EVO?
If you build them right, you can make hellacious power out of the 4G63, but thats not what evos are really about. All that weight on the front, plus the loss of AWD.....
is it just me?

yes, yes it is. Evos are cool and fun, but a RWD high HP evo would be a much funner car....and 4G63s take a lot IMO to make "hellacious power"

still doesnt make them strong, my concern is safety and that definitely is not safe.

hehehehe, i hear ya evil,,,, by cleaned up i meant fixed . its been going painfully slow with this project sine we are in the middle of a very busy race season , and any work done to this thing is done in the spare time they have ( if any ),,,,plus you don't need rear brakes! they only slow you down

krowsif, we have quite a bit of evos over here,,, and you know what the common thing is with all of them ? they all broke at one point ( except omar's,,,, and his is stock )
every single evo we have here that has been modified ( from bolt ons to "built motors" by big name companies) has blown an engine or two ( or three ) at some time or the other

this thing was the natural evolution of this car (pardon the pun ) it needed to be better ,,,, survival of the fittest
(i joke about how many 4 bange evo's have blown their engines , and in contrast : how many v8 evo's have blown their engines )

I'm guessing....I think what he's trying to illustrate is that the engine angles are the same for both the Evo engine and the LS engine.

Weight didn't really change. A 4G63 is no lighter than a LS1(iron block vs. aluminum).

This is true. Everyone who is a 4G63 fan talks about it like it's god's gift to the import world. At the end of the day it's still a 2.0 liter, requires a good bit of mods just to crack 400, let alone 600+

i guess your right,
it's better to have no brakes then to starve the engine of fuel

I'm not one to knock other people's work but those welds are freakin scary. I think what you guys are doing in really cool but safety should be your number one priority...

Well I don't know if I would do this to an Evo but to tell you the truth, any small car with an IRS with a diff is a prime candidate for an LS swap and that includes all AWD cars like a Subaru Legacy, the Audi A4/Passat 4 Motion and I can't think of any others right now but that also includes all RWD IRS cars like Bimmer's, MB's, S13/15's, J30's, M30's Z32 etc....

this thing is on the back burner right now , too much going around in the shop to do anything to it .
it is running , but still need to wire the N2O and fix a few things . for me personally it's tearing my heart to see it just sitting there , but guess we'll get back on it in the off season here ( summer ) .
