I have run both power steering lines. Started with the truck ones which required some bending, at that time I also kept the variable effort valve on the back of the steering pump. Later I found out that the fitting in the back of the pump is pressure matched to the steering box.

In the end I swapped the MCSS valve into the back of the pump and went to a MCSS power steering hose, works better, but still requires a little bending to fit .

Thanks for the info G-body. Where is this valve located? Is it the fitting in the back of the pump that receives that line? Thanks for the info thus far.

It's pretty much a box..here are rough measurements..

36" long
24" wide
9.5" tall

That's a stock 1984 one.

I`m going with no. IIRC my brother tried to see if a MCSS tank would fit in his 64 buick special and it will fit between the frame rails, but on a MCSS from the 80`s the fuel filler tube is not centered in the gas tank. The filler is centered on the car, but the tank is offset to the drivers side.

You just need to upgrade the fuel pump. A walbro should work well. You can get them and the hotwire harness through racetronix. Look for the turbo regal/grand national kits.

The Tank is fine aslong as it's baffled, the Sending Unit has to be modified to get the correct size return line and vent the tank.

This is what I did to mine, LS1MCSS gave me the advice and I took pics of it..

I used a 1986 V6 Tank and Sending Unit.

First thing I did was took the Sending Unit and adapted it for the LS1 Return setup. The way it was setup from the factory the 1/4" was the return, and the 5/16" was the EVAP Vent..

I modified the Sending Unit by cutting off a baffle on the end of the 5/16" line and opened up the end of it.
Then cut a vent in the 1/4 line..

I've had zero issues with Fuel Tank venting and filling.

Default 80 regal 5.3 truck acc. drive

hey guys i straight traded my 03 civic Si for the 80 buick regal i have now. its got the 5.3 with 4l60 and i've got a couple a/c questions. the guy gave me the compressor and mounts that came on the motor.

will the truck compressor work with the regal or do i need to buy a sanden one?

has anyone ran a/c with the truck acc. drive and if so can you post pictures? i'm hoping to see both stock mounting and the kwik adapter top mount. i'm trying to decide if i want to go kwik or see whats involved with cutting to mount it down where it should be. thanks!!!

The truck compressor will work with the buick regal A/C system. Is yours a rear line compressor or are the lines on the side? Which style engine mounts does your swap use? If you have SBC frame mounts with the adapter plates the compressor will not fit.

I was told the new AC compressors won't work with the older AC systems. Something to do with the way it is switched on & off is different. That the newer compressors run constantly & switching it on & off will ruin it.

????????

samckitt- i heard something like that, anyone running a/c using the newer compressor to bust this possible myth?

i'm going to take pics of my compressor and mounts and acc. drive so you can see what i'm working with. something else to keep in mind is i plan to switch to the fast 102 intake next spring. i know i have to change up some things with the belt drive when i do that, so it may have something to do with what i need to do with the a/c compressor mounting.

going to take pics now...

Finally.... I bought solid mounts off ebay and everything appears to have fallen into place. They were 40.00 plus shipping...
