When I get everything in I'll do some measuring and mock up for you.

I'm sure there would have to be other alternative pans that would also fit, but the time needed to identify them and verify their fitment was not accounted for as part of the development process.

The book " Chevy LS Engine Conversion Handbook" by Shawn Henderson has a whole section on oil pans - including measurements. It's the best single source I've found so far and covers virtually every aspect of a LS conversion. The book was written in 2011 and, at that time, he talked about a "LHX" oil pan available from BRP Hot Rods. Today, I can't find any other reference to the LHX pan. BRP Hot Rods offers a G-Body conversion kit but, they use the LH8 (Hummer H3) pan. Henderson commented that the LH8 pan wasn't suitable for some applications because the sump was so deep that it hung below the crossmember. The Holley pan wasn't out when he wrote the book but, now, that seems to be the best option - and one that I'm going to use. I'm going to use Dirty Dingo slider engine mounts - PN D-3550C.

been awhile since I played with her.
Got the headers on, going to do a full mock up engine in it before it goes away on Jan 24th to get turbo's mounted, intercooler and radiator. Trying to decide if I go cheap route to get the car running (th350) or wait till I have funds and put the 4L80 in it gutted for the fab work. Doing a 4.8 with twin borg 62's to get her moving.

So I have the dirty dingo adjustable motor mounts, ctsv oil pan ice man cross member, truck acc drive, holley a/c bracket. Also have quick ratio steering box. What size pulley has been used for p/s? Was gonna try a grand am p/s pulley which is 5"in diameter.what have others used?

The standard run-of-mill power steering box used in G-bodies was the Saginaw 605 box. It has a bulkier casting than the quick ratio 700 series box in the area of the pulley to accommodate a drilled internal hydraulic passage that travels through the casting. Having the quick ratio box is a real plus when doing a swap in a G-body for clearance issues as well as for the improved steering performance it provides. You shouldn't have any clearance problems with the stock truck P/S pulley.

Anyone here have a problem wih the front suspension sitting a few inches higher with the engine swap? Seems like I remember this happening with my third gen camaro after I did the LS swap.

I asked the same question with my nova on my swap. is your hood and bumpers all back on the car? This can affect it a lot. Mine dropped back down when I got the rest of the body panels back on. Also, roll it back and forth a bit, because the tires may be holding the suspension up.

Snapped a picture real quick of the difference. This is with stock suspension front and rear, complete 5.3 with front engine accessories, and no transmission. I'll wait till I throw the transmission in and see what it does, then i'll start with 2'' drop spindles and go from there.

When I took the above pic, these items were not installed:
Hood, AC condenser, Radiator (plus coolant), Engine and tranny oil, AC bracket and compressor and alternator. I'd imagine that should drop it some but I can't see it returning to stock height.

Wow a lot of info in this thread. I am working on a 5.3 swap into my 87 GN. My rods show up this week then off to the machine shop with the block and 317 heads, putting compstar 6.125 rods in with wiseco 5.3 pistons. I have a stage 2 Extreme Automatics 200-4R that I am gonna use initially to get the car driving and then will save for a 4L80e over the next winter.
