Hood vents came in today (I had GNX vents but they looked too small, these are very similar, MUCH higher quality, and 60% larger like the hood bump we made)...

Sprayed the hood bump flat black (temporarily to protect the exposed metal)...

looks good 6liter.. I get the same feedback from Monte SS guys as you did over on TurboBuick. I tell them I'm putting the Super back into the Super sport. Atleast it's not a GN. LOL

Lol. They get really mad when I argue that the Grand National was just an appearance package (same drivetrain as turbo t's only difference is everything is blacked out, one choice of interior, three choices of roofs) therefore I haven't changed anything (well, when I was just doing the motor swap lol) that made it "a grand national and not a turbo t"...

Simple thing is I bought the car for 9K (+$1150 shipping). Sold the drivetrain for $2500. All good rollers I could find (turbo t's so I didn't have to worry about fuel, etc...) were $7500 so selling to do a non-gn was pointless especially since it was going to take $9k in motor and mods to get this thing to "around" 400hp !

Question 4L80E trans and engine dipsticks..

A search resulted in 50+ pages...
Might someone have a GM part number for the trans dipstick/tube that they are using in a G body? [Hate have to resort to that nasty, Lokar thing.]
Also, an engine dip that can work w/ flipped manifolds? [Turbo application.]

TIA,

TIA,
I used a stock 2500 HD trans dipstick that came with the 4l80e and it fit just fine with set back plates
Think I said a 2005 2500 HD

Started on the grille last night. Had to get proportions by printing pics of this off the internet and measuring...

Basically the top (of the vertical bars) width to the bottom is 5 to 4. They have 7 bars, we have 14. Ours are exactly 1" a part so it actually worked out perfect basing the off an inch (except trying to get 4/5's of an inch lol, I settled on 11/16th...

I used cardboard to figure out spacing and angles then waterjeted this piece out of plastic to test fit (this piece has STRAIGHT LINES, finished product will have ARCHED LINES to look like the above grille, this was just to test fit)...

Fit just fine

Finished product will be aluminum. It will have the kick in that our stock grilles have, the center will have the crease line that the hood and bumper have and it will have a second layer adde it to it (like the 2014 Regal Grille pics). It will not be three layers, it won't have a center emblem (I'm doing a custom side emblem like the BUICK and GNX emblems), and shape won't be exactly like 2014 but the point of this is to create a car that COULD have existed in 1987 (appearance wise) that the new cars pay tribute to

I just personally didn't like the stock grille (especially with all the curves I added to the car), looked to much like the side of a shopping cart to me lol...

I am using Pacesetter F body headers, they fit pretty good, had to do some massaging to clear, but not bad. For the AC bracket, look at the cast pieces Holley makes, they mount up high on passenger side & look stock. And for the clutch master cylinder bracket, look for Bernie Duplan over on Montecarloss.com, he sells the clutch bracket & pedal. He designed it, but I drew them up in 3D CAD & have them CNC Plasma cut for him.
Could find a search function over there to find Bernie Duplan. And I didn't want to register on yet another forum. I'm involved in too many now.

I'm running the AutoKraft pan on my Monte. Fit was great and it comes with the adapter to have the filter in the stock LS spot right next to the pan. Why are you determined to get 7qts of oil capacity? AutoKraft is advertised as 5.5qts and I use the f-body dipstick like they say and in order to get it up to the "full" mark it definitely takes 6qts or a little more...

I have a Moroso sheet metal road race pan. I believe it is 7 qt, has baffles for cornering, and oil filter in stock location. Pan was like $300, ok fine, then the pickup was a ridiculous $125.

Love the stance. Looks awesome. I like that you have some sidewall to the tires. It fills the wheel well and you can actually drive it on real roads without total fear that every bump in the road could possibly destroy the rims.

Can you pass on the wheel and tire size both front and rear?

I cheated lol. Had these on my blue Camaro Z28, then Gil's SOM WS6. So, they are F-Body offset with 3" bolt on spacers lol.

Yes, I'm going to commit similar sins and use Mustang Wheels.

Can you pass on the size of the tires?

Ken, forgive me if i missed it somewhere, but where did you get the two hood vents that are on the sides of your hood? Kindof look like Mustang hood louvers.
Thansk
