You guys with the floor shifters, what actual shift linkage did you end up getting? We fabbed up and it fit (could have used just a few more inches, maybe two, to make it fit perfect) the stock replacement 200r4 linkage to the 4l80e. Hooked everything up, and tried to use the the shifter to go through the gears. Well the shifter itself shifts and clicks into gear, but the shifter wasnt engaging the trans. Later found out the shifter broke out of the plastic boot it is in that is on the end where it connects to the shifter.

So my question is, for you guys running a floor shifter, where and what cable did you guys get and part number would be great. Again, if mine was 2 inches longer than the stock factory it would be ideal but a little slack is better than too tight!

They KIND OF are lol. I liked the newer Mustang vents but didn't like the fact they were OEM mustang lol. I found these aftermarket, for Mustangs but aftermarket...

Look kind of like GNX vents but WAYYYYY higher quality and a little more modern.

I used the cable my Hurst ratchet shifter came with but had to make a new bracket (the one that holds the linkage and bolts to the tranny pan, can't remember for sure but the bracket either had to be an inch or two back or forward, I think it was back)...

Well I really did not want to go with a aftermarket shifter yet because of $$ but seems like there's no cable for the length I need.

Ok. I'll be "that guy", but has anyone put together a more current, "definitive" guide for the LS G-Body swap? Getting ready to this on my 78 Malibu but i've read so much I think I got dumber.

My Plans are as follows:

4.8/5.3/6.0 Truck motor, price permitting
My Already beefed up TH350
No A/C

What am I missing? And would anyone be able to provide me with what I may need besides the obvious?

And trust me, all I've done since about 2pm this afternoon is search not only the web, but this forum, as well as read until my eyes hurt.

Thanks for any helps. If you need anymore details please LMK.

Did the car previously have a v8? Maybe try V6 springs, or lowering springs.

Yeah, its an 85 SS monte. I bought it as a roller, I think it may have big block springs in it.
I'm gonna order some moog v6 car springs.

This might some help you choose the springs you need.

4-cylinder 2wd S10 springs may work better.

It's the tried and true s400sx4-75mm Borg Warner. Paid $700 for her from a local performance shop. I like to support the local places. She's a fatty but I love her just the same...lol

Just a little summer cruiser..
Goal is 600rwhp, and 20mpg on the highway.

LOLOLOL...20 mpg he says! You know as well as I do that is a just a line we tell ourselves to justify the 8 mpg we will actually get since we won't be able to get the damn pedal off the floorboard!

Our goals are pretty similar tho. I am using a 4L80e for the mpg () and looking to breach the 600RWHP mark.

I am trying to look as stock as possible, drive to the track (most of the time Atco Raceway) and line up in lanes 9 and 10 (street car lanes) and rip some 9s and drive home. I want to drive this thing as much as possible.

It is a very attainable goal, I made a post about this in the forced induction forum a little while back. If my 9,000lb Ford crew cab diesel dually with 4.30 gear can get 18mpg, I'm fairly certain a 3,200lb small engine, small gear, turbo LS can do better..
