Wish I would of took pics but that's what I read also and I'm sure I had more than that, purchased my oil pan and plates for a second gen f body and the frame was rotted so I sold that and bought the 79 regal then found a 71 cutlass and using the same setup on that. Some a body guys even recommend a ctsv pan but from my experience a f Boby pan with 1" setbacks fit well for a,f,and g body's. I have personally owned all 3 (78 t/a, 79 regal, 71 cutlass) and have never had any fitment issues. Best I can say is just give it a try, the engine will fit without a doubt worst case you will have to drill new holes for the crossmember and frame plates and have to have the driveshaft shortened but that's easy in my opinion compared to the rest of the swap. Here in MI I have a shop that does the drive shaft for around 60 bucks and I would just have the muffler shop weld the plates in place instead of drilling holes.

If that's the case I could have saved a bit of $$ then. Had a chance to get a cheap Fbody pan. Ended up passing on it and going with a New CTS-V pan.

Ok guys I am working with a 85 Monte, The mounts that I am using are supposed to keep the transmission in the stock location. What are my options for oil pans? I would like to use one with the filter mounted on the engine.

Question fellas, Im in the process of doin a swap into my 87 MCSS. I have a truck harness but changed to a car intake(LS3). I was told I have to change the plugs on the truck harness to fit the car injectors. Is there a adapter plug that can be used for this?

Not sure there is a multec (truck injector connector) to EV6 (LS3) connector/adapter available. We sell a connector kit if you cant find adapters for $40. It includes seals, terminals and connectors. P/N KIT-1015.

Do the newer truck engines (gen IV 07+) use the same EV6 connector?

Yes. That would be your other option, clip a set from the junkyard. You can also get them from Flex Fuel trucks Pre-07.

Fellas, if I want to use my factory tach on my 87 MCSS how do I go about making it work? Do I have to buy anything to convert the signal. Please help.

stock turbo x member w/ a modified perch. [86 T Type]
[Engine is turbo'd, so I have no need for a notch on the dr side.]
I have also removed the rubber insulators at the frame ends. They are replaced w/ steel bolt down plates.

Someone asking about truck/Hummer pans.. Here's a comparo of an H2 pan and a H3, [LH8, aka "muscle car" pan]
New is the H3.
I made my mounts, and had to notch the ft x to clear the H2 pan. This kept the engine low in the frame, and it's as far back as practical. [A ft mt turbo app.]
I'll likely have to shorten the pan, as it's way too far below the x for "comfort".

I read all 48 pages of this thread, very good info in here. I did my swap around 9 yr ago and there wasn't much to go on and hardly any after market parts available. Glad to see all the swaps now.

Anyone have a part number for the 4l80e tranny mount? Anyone have pics of the gforce crossmember in their car and what mount? Parts store do not list any for a van. Just the trucks. I figure its the same..

See my post on the tach set-up considerations..

I will add that others have done just the tach resolution setting with a pull-upn resistor and have not built the circuit I used in addition to the proper resolution setting and have had no problems.

Matt

Default I need a little help g-body swap

Hello, I had to stop working on my build for a while but know I'm back at it again. I have a few questions?

1.I have a 84 monte ss that came from the factory with a 3 speed. I have a 4l60e form a 2004 2 wheel drive truck and I'm using a harness from a 2000 f-body. I need to know what you guys are doing about the neutral safety switch? How should I go about setting this up?

2. I would like to fuse the OBD2 port what wires should I use to do that?

Thanks

I would fuse Pin 16 on the OBDII DLC..that is the constant 12v. From the Factory they are fused from the Cig Lighter Circuit tho.

If you have the PRNDLE Switch on that 4L60E I would incorporate that into the Wiring Harness..then Tune it..it's easy.

Guys my car cranks fine. It's a newly built ls motor with all new parts so I'm stumped. The idle is fine at startup then it starts idling up and down and then it bogs down like its not getting air but I can feel the intake pulling in air then when I turn it off it diesels. Anybody had this problem?

Sounds like it's running out of Fuel.

Always make sure you have plenty of gas cause sucking air will kill a pump.
