Maiden Voyage -> Yes, some issues...
At low speeds it seems to do fine, but when I get on the freeway it acts like it is running out of gas.
Sumptoms are:
- Max Speed is about 55, unless I accellerate good, just to get faster...until I 'run out of gas'
- Driveing along at slower speed, say 35, I can accellerate, but it seems to run out of gas
- As I cruise at about 55, it may surge now and then
- If I drive on the freeway with the pedal held to the floor, it will cruise along at about 55, sometimes it starts slowing down, makeing me feel like it's done. Then will pick back up.

- Rock Valley Gas Tank and Pump
- 3/8 Fuel line feed, 5/16 return. No kinks in line (stainless hose from tank to line coming up frame, to stainless line going up to engine)
- The air to the TB is supplied through a 4" tube: 90 degree off of TB, across behind radiator support, 90 degree out the right side, with S&P MAF/Air Cleaner for cold air intake
- Computer programmed by Wait4Me. I asked for mileage type tuning as opposed to performance.
I wondered about the fuel tank needing to be vented, but I had called someone (I think Rock Valley, but not sure now) and they said the original style gas cap for the '56 Chevy was fine w/o venting.
Where should I start?
Anyone have any suggestions?
The oldstyle cascaps have "built-in" venting of the tank.
But it sounds like a fuelproblem, have you checked the pressure at the rails?

I was thinking while driving it home I may have to spring for the expensive tuning software.
So far, I haven't tried anything. Checking pressure at the rails sounds like a good idea, although I'm not sure how I will accomplish that. I'll have to give it some thought. I have an inline fuel pressure guage. Woudl someone do that by connecting somethign to the end of the reils, where the schraeder valve is?
I too think it sounds like fuel problem.

do it the other way around, code scanning is way easier than pressure checking
just roll into an autozone and have them pull codes (if you have a dataport hooked up)

Re: teh O2 Sensor: would one bad cause that? I know that I dropped one while it was out, and I read that could cause problems. I almost replaced it, then found how expensive it was, and decided to wait and see what happens. Would the code indicate which one is bad if that is the case?
Also, something else I forgot to mention: This is electronic TB. I presume it would either work, or not work. When I first started it, the throttle wouldn't respond. I had to spray some electronic contact cleaner in the connection at the pedal.
I'll see if I can get a code read on it.
As for checking fuel pressure, you can pick up a pressure gauge that screws right onto the schraeder valve.
To check the gas cap, leave it off and take the car for a drive. If the problem goes away, then you need a vented cap.
