Default ls1 going into 77-79 trans am?

looking at buying a body/frame only 77-79 trans am and getting either an ls1 or ls7 and i guess t56 trans into it and getting a nice paint job so basically itll be a new trans am with old muscle car body......would it be expensive job as far as installing engine/trans, and would there be sufficient room to put in a twin turbo heads/cam etc etc in the engine bay? anyone have a conversion similar or can point me to one?

check the year one bandit car they are building three stages of the car 1,2 and 3 the third is a ls7 i think 600hp they are going to sell all the parts that are on these cars on the year one site. that would be the best bet for the cost for the ls7. and you could just buy the stage 3 for starting at six figures

Look at trans am country in the "cars for sale" section. I have a gold 77 for sale without an engine or trans.

http://www.transamcountry.com/forum/

I don't have the car listed in there currently. It is in Alhambra, IL. I can send you pictures this weekend. $500. It is complete with the exception of the engine, trans, rear axle.
