LT-1 intake conversion
LT-1 intake conversion I have a 76 vette with a carbd sbc. I found a site while doing a search for EFI solutions where the guy converts lt1 manifolds to fit SBC..Most of the guys on the corvette forums go with the edelbrock and holley efi setups. My thinking is you can find LT1 parts for really cheap. Find a manifold, have it converted to fit your sbc. use the stock lt1 computer and control it with lt1 edit to customize the injection to your application. Help me figure out why this would not work.

The motor in my vette is fairly built..i figured if i could just add fuel injection i would be good to go..that was my thinking for not dropping in an lt1 and going through all that...just trying to find the best low cost solution..the stealthram would be the way to go...after seeing that it would be stupid to get some random guy to convert the lt1 manifold..what would i use to control the stealthram fuel injection that wouldnt cost an arm and a leg?
I have seen a lot of Third Gen F-Body guys do this using the stock TPI dizzy and ECM. Same goes for using the Stealth Ram.
Look around, I think Craig Moates is still selling the equipment to burn TPI chips. Or you can probably use a Megasquirt controller if you didn't want to go the chip route.

So basically I could use the TPI ECM and wiring harness to control the stealthram with some modification? Im not that familiar with megasquirt and it may be a little more in depth that i want to get

I used an LT1 intake on my old tpi stroker. It's fairly easy to do. Just weld up all intake bolt holes and re-drill them to fit the old sbc pattern. You would have to use a TPI computer though. The TPI distributor is all that will fit (you actually have to grind down some areas where the egr valve goes on the intake to get it to fit) and obviously you can't run an LT1 opti on the front of your block. And you have to get an angled spacer for the distributor. BUT I saw an LT1 Fbody featured in GM High tech a few years ago and he was actually using the TPI distributor with the LT1 setup.
