here is a 71 chevy truck thats receiving a 5.3 LH6.....keepin the DOD... here's kinda a picture story....

killer71 (the guy im doing this swap for) picked this up, it only has 5 mi. on it and its keepin the DOD setup so it'll get great power and milage...came out of a trailblazer

starting to clean it up (didnt need much) and painting it, the big daddy hulse, color scheme....

also smoothed the radiator support... some of ya'll know that theses had "bumps" where the support curved downward (as seen in the pics) so i smoothed the top and repainted it.. also located all my fuses and relays to run the engine and trans on the back of the support (all hidden)... it turned out really well..

finally recieved the ECM pins to re-pin the computer, so i needed the engine in the truck to see how far back to make the connections to the computer...the only snafu i ran into was the the stock trailblazer P/S pump resovoir hits the frame, so what the plan is, is to switch to a truck style resovoir... other then that everything fits in there nicely...

got the trans cleaned and painted, this is the final piece i needed to get done to complete the wiring harness.. when its completely dry i'll mate the engine and trans back together and make the harness.... then the drivetrain (minus the driveshaft) will be complete...the frame will get attention next..

got the engine and trans wired up... this is a totally custom harness, it has the extra non-used wires taken out, all the connections are GM factory weatherpack connectors,re-pinned the ECM and TCM, and added a main fuse for the whole truck (both inside and out)..it has the throttle by wire, that im anxious to see it work.. the bare wires are for the bulkhead connection...
also took great care to hide all the wires, which is a feat in itself..

got the cab pulled off, with the help of some friends... .. and started the process of smoothing the firewall....
cut templet, transfer to sheet metal,cut , weld, smooth

Detail work is second to none. I love those old trucks. It looks very clean. Will make a great driver when done.

i mocked up the dual row, finned, frame mounted trans cooler... useing AN fittings and -6 braided line.
also got the bed pulled off and started to fit the fuelcellguy 18 GAL fuel cell with intank pump..after removing the spare tire mount ( i think thats what its for anyway) it fit good and was nice and level with the top of the frame
rails...also continuing chipping away at the bodywork...
