So the ATS pan REQUIRES a remote filter?

Don't know about the ATS stuff, but I'd be interested in the pick up tube PN as well. I have the pan, but the moron's at my local Pontiac dealer keep insisting there was no such thing as a Caddy with LSx power...

I think I'll make a post in the CTS-V section tonight..

My CTS-V pan is bolted to my block right now and the LQ9 dipstick tube appears to fit just fine.

Default CTS-V stuff

I think it might have to with the fact that the production CTS has a 4.6L?

The 04? CTS-V is/was the 5.7L LS1 and 05-07? is the 6.0L LS2, so the parts person probably doesn't understand that the CTS-V has a completely different drive train that the normal CTS.

I was under the impression that the pan, oil pickup, windage tray, and dipstick and tube all had to be the same.

If you can use the the LQ4/LQ9 dipstick and tube that is going to be two less part numbers to track down. The LS1 PDF is for 5.7L, and has the F-body, corvette, GTO and truck part #'s.

If the GTO or corvette or F-body #'s for the 5.7L are the same as the 6.0L you might be able use the one of them, but again I don't know what fits as I have read that when you use a different pan that everything has to be the same. So the LQ stuff shouldn't work? Does that mean that assumption is now wrong?

I explained the whole break down of drivetrains to the idiot. He insisted they came with supercharged Northstars.. Even when I told him I had a pan from one on my LS2 (same thing as the LQ9) he still said his computer showed nothing.

The dipstick tube runs through the block, so I would think that as long as the width and depth of the pans is the same where the tube comes down into the crank area, it shouldn't matter. I did swap out the windage tray from the CTS-V, but I should have compared the two first. I can't imagine they're different, as the only difference in the pans is the depth of the sump (I think). The dipstick tube did fit with the CTS-V windage tray.

I guess I need to pull the pan and measure for the dipstick, but I'm hoping the CTS-V guys can at least get me a part number for the pickup.

The windage tray is a full tray as compared to a F-Body which doesn't cover the first two cylinders. If you check my sig for my Cardomain site, there is a picture of the two being compared as well as compared to the F-Body / CTS-V pans.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...03_77_full.jpg

You can get just use any dip stick, just fill with 5 qt, check and mark it, then add the 6th one and mark it... if it doesn't match up with that is marked on it, then just use your new mark as referrence.

I didn't buy a new dip stick and tube when I swapped my pan for a CTS-V one, but i can't find the sale slip, else I would have the part number for you. Still looking through all of my boxes of sale slips and all.

I sure am glad my parts guy is good, not like your idiot.. what dealership is he at ?

Ok.. I found it ! Here are the part numbers for the Dip stick and tube for a CTS-V Pan..

Stick = 012584737 $12.39
Tube = 012584738 $15.04
That is the retail price. I got both for $20.57

Default Drive accessory questions

Well I have been playing with part #'s on gmpartsdirect.

I think this might work:
LS2 GTO Water Pump 89018053 $183.20 S&H $40.30
or
LS2 water pump 89017592 $183.02 S&H $40.26

Belt Tensioner for Camaro / GTO KAT-A4425-BLK $135
Drive Belt Idler Pulley 12563326 $31.36 S&H $6.90
Pulley, Top Idler 12557335 $24.63 S&H $5.42
Power Steering Pulley 92066499 $37.28 S&H $8.20

I think this should get me a smaller PS pulley that won't hit the steering box. I get to replace the pulley for the water pump, plus I get rid of the Truck fan.
The Katech part is a solid adjustable belt tensioner.
I have a powerbond 25% under drive pulley to use as well.

Will a LS2 water pump work on a LQ4 a Gen III LS1?

Any thoughts?

I still don't have all the part #'s for the CTS-V stuff. I need #'s for the matching oil pickup and windage tray.

TIA

1. I bet the LS2 pump won't fit. Not that it won't physically bolt up, but the pulley spacing is going to be different... Every car/truck seemed to use a different spacing. Buy a USED F-body water pump from someone here (mine ran me $40 shipped), press the pulley off the pump, press the truck pulley off and press the F-body pulley on the truck pump. Buy the Speartech tensioner and you're done. You can eliminate the rest of your list as well for the same reasons.

2. The truck power steering pulley will fit with the A-body box. My motor and trans are not even all the way back yet and my pulley already clears...

I'm hoping next week to get to a caddy dealer to get the pickup tube numbers.

I want to get rid of the stupid truck fan, so...
could I get a Ls2 water pump and put the F-body water pump pulley on it instead?

Any particular year for the F-body water pump pulley, 4th gen ?? - 02 would that work?

do you have the part number or web link for the tensioner you use?
I went to the Speartech web site and found harness and pcm stuff. I tried Speedtech but that is mostly Camaro stuff.

I was looking at the Kateck item ::
Belt Tensioner for Camaro / GTO KAT-A4425-BLK $135

as I need to get spacers to use my Ls1 truck injectors in the L92 harness and the adapters to use Ls7 injectors with my LS1 harness from them.

TIA

I took the fan off my truck pump. It comes off....I believe it unscrews.

Speartech is a member on this site. PM him. I don't have the PN off the top of my head, but I know he sells it..

Any LS1 pulley will work. From what I understand the 98's had a bolt on design, so you could want a 99+ pump..

Well, I was finally able to get down to the Caddy dealer and order the tube.

PN: 12577906 is for a 6L CTS-V. The only year the computer showed was 06', but that shouldn't matter. $56 and change. From what he says it has to come from Michigan, so be prepared to wait a few days, depending where you live.

It comes with a new o-ring as well.

I don't know what they are charging you, I ordered my from a Chevy dealer. Most GM dealer will be able to look up other GM parts and order them.

Well, since they're completely different parts, its not a surprise....

You ordered the dipstick tube, I ordered the oil pump pickup tube...

Default Windage tray part #?

So I now have the Oil pan, Dipstick, tube & oil pump pick up tube part #'s.

I am going to assume that the windage tray does not come with the oil pan and you can not use the one from the truck oil pan?

Is there only one part number for the CTS-V oil pan? is that the pan fits both the LS1 5.7 and the 6.0L LS2?

Does any one have the part # for the CTS-V windage tray?
which gaskets & the part # is everyone using?

I will order the tensioner from speartech after payday on the 15th.
I am still working on a 4th gen? 99 -02 LS1 water pump or just the pulley..

TIA

I would try thye one from the truck. I can't see it being different..

The chassis on the CTS-V's didn't change, and we know the blocks externally are the same size (sounds more and more like the Pontiac motors of old...), so I can't really see there being a difference in the oil pans.

I would imagine you'd find a complete pump long before you just found a pulley.

Try contacting Matt@SDPC that is his name on here. Great guy and can help you find the parts you need. Or at least let you know if he can get them.

I can order the parts from Gmpartsdirect, I don't have the windage tray part number.

It was suggested to use the one from the truck oil pan, should I do this?

TIA
