Best year for LS1 swap?
Is there a better year to look for? I am going to try and get a full swap, is there anything else i should look for?
but unless your billy bob and think your .030 over 350 is now some sort of fire breathing monster that spits out 1000 hp for every turn of the idle screws on the carter carb. just price the blocks by miles and what you get with them.. you can always search and find out what improvments you feel are best to you and get that year as a minimum
I would stick with a 01-02 as they had the LS6 manifold and the later years seem to have less problems with piston slap and crapy oil pumps.

I'd look for an 02 if at all possible. A darker color aluminum block also signifies the LS6 alloy that spilled over to some f bodies plus you get the bonus of better rod bolts, oil pump, LS6 intake and possibly better block. The oil passage ways were also inmproved in 01 I believe. Still dont shy away from an older engine just factor in some more mods to bring it up to par with newer versions. If your not going to mod a leave it stock then any of them are fine
