I started out building another Fox body Mustang about 5 months ago. I was orig. building a 533 cu. BBF. I had already bought everything to put the BBF together and had the block in the machine shop when I changed my mind.
I ended up selling off all of my BB stuff and purchased a complete LS1/m6 change-over out of a 98 Z-28. At some point and time the motor was replaced, so what I ended up with is a 2000 LS1 with 35k miles. I had bought a 92 coupe that had VERY nice black int.. The paint was very good on the car but 95% of the clear coat was toast. I was orig. going to repaint the car red just for the ease of not having to do all of the trim work. But after a couple weeks of thinking about it , I come to the conclusion I'm not a big fan of red.
As you can see in the pics I ended up going with a dark met. green, actually its an 2006 GM Emerald jewel met.. I went ahead and pulled the front clip to paint the engine compartment , painted the door jams and trunk jam.
I bought and installed a 6 point cage form wolfe racecraft,UPR upper and lower torque box plates and sub frame connectors. I am now at the point of getting this thing put back together.
I also ordered a set of KooKs swap headers and a AJE k-member. I got the headers last Thursday and dropped them off at the local coater for thermal coating friday. I should be getting the k-member sometime this week....I hope.

Thanks guys. The color is 2006 GM Emerald jewel met. green. I hope to order my Mcleod clutch master cyl. this week. I did get the dash pulled out this past Friday and mounted the TC clutch pedal assembly for mock-up. I still need to get my wiring harness shipped off to Speartech. Other than having a drive shaft made, that should be all of the big stuff I need to buy. I 'm also going to try to run the instrument cluster out of the 98 Z.
I'm kind of up in the air about the fuel gauge though.... I will more than likely just run an Autometer fuel gauge to save a little headache .

I'm going to go ahead and do a cam and valve spring change before I stick the motor in. I ended up buying a Lunati 60512 cam and a set of 918 springs. While I'm at it I'm going to stick a new clutch in it also. Right now I'm waiting for the K-member so I can set it in and get the trans cross member modified and measure how long the hyd. line needs to be for the clutch. I might just try to get rid of the quick disconnect on the slave cylinder and just use a -4an fitting , but I don't know what kind of trouble I'm going to run into doing it.

very clean car to start with! you know that front bumper weights 30lbs if you want to take a few lbs off the nose. i got lucky and bought a moly tubular piece from a guy that was selling them on corral.net (3 lbs!) but couldn't keep up with demands and stopped making them. so a nice 27lb loss and still have the front bumper support so it doesn't cave in on the big end at speed. just a thought.

Phil99, The motor is a bone stock 2000 LS1. I plan on sticking a set of heads on it this winter, but I'm going to go ahead and stick a cam ,valve spring,timing chain and a new oil pump in it now. The cam I bought for it is a Lunati 60512. It's a tad big for a stock motor, but I don't want to change it again when I do the heads.

PRAY HRD, Yeah,I could lighten this thing up alot. But this is going to be a driver. lol, If you would ride down I-85 between Spartanburg and Greenville, during morning traffic with me , that big 'ol bumper is a good piece of mind.lol
I thought about ripping everything I could off of it. But I think In the end I would not be happy. Hell , I plan on sticking the A/C back on it at some point.

I was going to order a Mcleod adjustable master cyl.. But after looking at pedal assembly mounted, I think I'm going to just buy a Wilwood 1" universal remote res. master cylinder and save myself about $250.
I also picked up my headers from coater today....turned out pretty good.

i trust myself more than others which is why i did the moly front bumper but passed on the rear one! lol.

 

The moly tubular bumper might actually be stronger than the big heavy fiberglass piece that comes stock. Do you have any pictures of the moly bumper support?

 

not sure about the strength being superior or even equal, but it's 30lbs stock vs 3lbs for the moly! here some crappy pics....

I like that bar, I might have to do one of those myself! I imagine the factory unit will probably be a little better to the other car in an impact, since they're designed to absorb energy in a slower, more controlled fashion.

I've been working a TON of overtime the past few weeks ,so very little progress has been made on the car. I did get the fuel sending unit done though. I was getting a little worried about the AJE k-member that I ordered .It has been 4 weeks since I placed my order! I called them last Thursday and they told me that it would be shipped out this Monday .

Anyway, here are a few pics of the Kooks headers that I had coated locally.

 

are those 1 7/8 or 1 3/4 primaries?
