lt1 t56 to ls1..... come inside
just had a customer bring me a 71 240z with a SBC and lt1 6spd. he decided that he wants to put an ls1 in it so my question is, are there any flywheels out there to use the lt1 clutch assy, and bolt it to an ls1 so no input shaft changed/bell housing mods are necessary.
thanks

could you not use an lt1 splined disc with an ls1 flywheel and ls1 pressure plate? As long as it is the same diameter clutch disc and the input shaft is the right lenght and diameter.

i have both transmissions so i took some measurements:
LT1 t56:
input shaft length - 5.31in
splines - 26
input shaft dieameter(roughly) - 1.19in
bellhousing depth(to machined surface on front plate) - 5.5in
LS1 t56:
inputshaft length - 7.25
splines - 26
inputshaft diameter(roughly) - 1.19
bellhousing depth (to machined surface on front plate) - 6.25
hope this helps...

He's right. There are no flywheel/clutch set-ups made to convert a LT1 tranny to work with an LS1. The LT1 T56 can be converted over to LS1 use though. You would need a front plate, input shaft, and belhousing.
If the LT1 T56 is in good condition I would probably sell it and buy a LS1 T56. Both versions seem to command the same prices so the out of pocket cost wouldn't be too bad.
