Default the old radiator hose question

i searched a while back and vame up with the part numbers for the hoses for my first gen (useing a 4th gen radiator). but they dont seem to look right. all i had found was the part numbers and not wich end to use or where to start chopping.

anyone got any ideas?

and if someone says bend up a coat hanger, i may be forced to keep my pimp hand strong.

thanks

this is the post olly put up back in april of 06 but it left me wondering about more details and a little confused about wich one is actually the upper?

Radiator hoses for stock F-bod LS1 fans, (pretty much any motor mount, they've got to be trimmed a bit anyways..) are:
GoodYear part numbers..
61099 - (235) lower
61609 - (913) upper

Summit sells them too and a search for the part number gives a list of vehicles they woould fit.

The 61609 should fit GMC, Cadillac and Chevrolet. Modells are Sierra, Sierra XC, Sportvan, Vandura, Rally, Express, Savana, Brougham, Special, XT.

Engines: 4.3, 5.0, 5.7L

So that hose fits a lot of cars.

The lower hose 61609 fits Wrangler, Comanche and Cherokee from Jeep. Models are Sport, Sahara, SE, Laredo, Islander, Rio Grande and Pioneer. I think that is iwth 2.5L engines.

Years 87-93 and 95

You can search at Summit for # GTR-61609 and GTR-61099.

(Thanks for researching those, Jan!)

I'm using a stock rad. in a 69. I went to napa and got my hoses for a 99 z. They seem to work fine and I did not have to trim them. Hope this helps.

by stock radiator, do you mean the stock 69 radiator, or the stock 99 radiator?

i plan on doing the same but have no idea how to mount the stock rad to the core support. a lot of the threads dont go into great deal about it. i was thinking of getting an aftermarket aluminum 6 speed rad and having a shop weld some 90* angle to the side then make new mount holes in the core support.

i got the stock upper and lower hoses. the stock upper fits perfect.

but the lower wanted to connect about 2 or 3 inches below the connection on the radiator. so i searched for awhile at work (hose after hose) with no luck. so i took a radiator hose repair kit that comes with clamps and diff size basically double male connecters.

i cut about 2 inches out of the straight part

and test fit it, then cut a little less than a half inch more off.

when I did mine (not really the same but same issues) I decided to weld up a therm- housing at a differant angle (made something like a 45 deg? cut on the nipple end and rewelded it back on about 180 deg from where it was. now finding hoses to fit is pretty easy.
