My current state of LS1/Nova conversion
Hey guys, just curious how everyones build is going? I have been block sanding for a while now. I can't wait to see some tangerine orange go on.
Hey Jack, did you get your headers back? What did you think?
Jamie

Jamie,
Yes they are back, and in the car(took 3 hours to get them in). I am pretty happy with the outcome, but there are a few "thin" spots on the headers. I have the majority of the wiring done, and will hopefully be done tomorrow. This will put me about 3 weeks from actually starting the car
I will try to get some pics up later tonight.

I'll try to post up some pictures later. Most of the eng/trans wiring is done, just need to adapt it to the cars wiring, which is getting redoen at the same time (painless 18 curcuit harness). My stock driveshaft I cut down to install. Doesn't quit fit but will allow the driveshaft to stay in to "chock" it in the garage/driveway. I have a 1350 yoke on the 9", so stock doesn't quite fit. Rear brake lines are being ran, will do rear to front this week hopefully.
Starting to think of another color scheme. Decisions decisions.

Hey, Jack sounds like your moving right along. Can't wait to see the pics. Where did you get your instrument panel from? I would like to keep my stock cluster. The only problem is the speedo is mechanical, and not really wanting to change tail shaft to match. Any Ideas? Thanks Jamie
Hey, Duane sounds like your also getting with the program. I also can't wait to see your pics. I also had a hard time making my mind up on a color. I really like white just to many white 67's. Going with this orange is really going out on a limb for me. I hope it turns out like I picture it.

I built my instrument cluster from autometer pieces. I am sure that you can have a good instrument shop convert your stock speedo to a hall effect motor driven unit. I dont think it would be cheap, but it is that, or change the tail housing.
Today, I wired the engine(again), installed the intake, installed the new driveshaft, installed the trans dipstick tube(what a PITA that was) and wired the interior of the car. All I have left is to mount the PCM, wire the fuel pump, and a few odds and ends. Ahhhhhh, finally some progress, and a light at the end of the tunnel

You guys are making me envious. Talking about firing your cars up. Mine is still coming apart. Would like to see pictures and if possible video of them bad boy's running. You guys are my inspiration to keep busting a-- on my ride. Keep up the good work and lets hear some noise, or should I say music to my ears!!!! Jamie
Jack, that looks bitchen. Very professionally done.
Which power booster do you have there? It looks like you have it sitting lower then the stock position. I have my 7" booster in and it just about touches the washer pump on my wiper motor.
Derrick, looking good. Man, I sure don't miss my old fenderwell headers. Them coil packs look like they are gonna get warm.

Duane,
That is a stock 9" booster. It damn near touches the valve covers.
I told you I had to repaint it, it looked horrid before. Believe it or not, that is the no mix lacquer from that PPG is selling.
These pics are from last week, I have alot more done, and hopefully will finish up the remainder of the wiring today.

Hey Jack, Man it looks like it was made for it. Everything looks bad ***, excellent job. I know I'm a picture asking fool, but would like to see some complete car pics. Man that block looks great did you paint it or polish it? Thats what I would call a happy ending. Jamie

I painted the block with "aluminum" color heat paint. The timing cover and valve covers are powdercoated purple, but they look blue due to the camera flash.

Got some done stuff done this weekend. Not too much since I kinda ran outta the ol bank funds for the Nova this month already. Picked up a red top Optima battery, and now have power throughout the car. Did some more "car" wiring, dash components, relays for the harness, wipers etc... Got the power booster mounted and hooked up, brakelines ran, with exception of front right, will wait till the inner fenders come in to do that. The engine cracks over under power
, but need a PCM still, which is on order, fuel system and cooling system. Enjoy.
