What year is the A Body?I think the early F body manifols do work, but you might have trouble with one of the collector ears on the manifold hitting the frame. You might look into Hummer H3 manifolds or check out the article on Hot Rods web site at http://www.hotrod.com/projectbuild/1...ll_photos.html

I am currently using the 99' F-Body Exhaust Manifolds.. no problem using them, but one suggestion.. on the Driver side. move the O2 about 90 Deg to the Passenger side, else the end is very close to the frame.

(sorry about the bad image).

I used the f-body manifolds. Had to grind flat the flange on the passenger side as noted above. Instead of moving the o2 sensor in the manifold. I used a broken o2 sensor and guted it. I then plug welded it and made a plug out of it and used it to plug the manifold. I then had the local muffler shop put the o2 sensor weld bung in a piece of exhaust pipe and had them weld on the mating cat flanges that mate to the manifolds. The passenger side o2's are in the cat anyway and something similar has to be done on that side to begin with. Besides I was lazy and did not want to pull the manifolds off the engine. I cut the flanges from the egr tube assembly and chrimped the tube I then used Jbweld and filled the egr flanges and used them to plug the egr holes in the manifold.

Does anybody know if the ls 7 manifolds would work on an ls1 in an A body?

They won't work because the ls7 has different shaped exhaust ports. I have some C5 Z06 manifolds but I never bothered to see if they would work.

I was under the impression from reading some of the threads that the exhaust ports were the same on the LS engines but the intake ports, and therefore the intake manifolds were not interchangeable. Am I wrong? And what manifold would work in this application? The seller of the LS1 has the ls7 manifolds and is including them in the sale but I won't buy them if they don't work.

ARe you talking about intake or exhaust.. what we are saying is the the Corvette (LS7 or other wise) exhause manifolds will not work due to the location of the exit point.. which is straight down the middle between cyl #3 and #5.. which on a A-Body will come directly into the frame/cross member.

As far as the intake.. the LS1 is the high/narrow Cathedral intake ports and the new LS7 head/intake would be the large rectangular shape ports..

guys.. Correct me if I am wrong..

Sorry I actually posted this under another thread accidentally.

Are the ls7 manifolds worth anything? I am sure he is willing to throw them in and I could resell them if that was worth it. He also mentioned the issue of the ls two post starter vs. the Gen II three post starter and the need for some additional wiring to make the key and starter compatible. I have not come across that anywhere so far, do you know if this is an issue? BTW, the ECU and wiring harness are Howell components.

The LS7 heads have D shaped exhaust ports whereas the LS1 have oval shaped. Its not to say that the LS7 exhaust manifolds wouldn't bolt up but the flow would be much less than optimal.
