Where the heck are the updates on this!?!?!?

Also, you have a part number on the Zoops PS Pulley? After I switched over to the ProCharger there is ZERO room for the pulley by the PS pump. I am considering a custom bracket at this point, but am looking at all options.

Great built man!

Tom,

Nice progress. I would seriously consider leaving the car in primer and driving the wheels off it. I can't tell you how liberating it can be to have a car that you don't have to worry about getting dinged or scratching it while you work on it.

Going to have to agree with this...the last car I did I was fine working on it until I got it painted. This one is going to be staying all rusted up until all the bugs are worked out of it!

Again...badass dude!

Thanks Dave.

I have not been good updating this thread so I will try and catch it up a little.

The Zoops pulley is part#6150 and was about $80.00 ***but I since have changed it out for a 5-5/16" diameter pulley with a .662 in I.D., I forget what vehicle it was but the part number is a Dorman #300-301. I sourced it from AutoZone for about $14.99. It seems to give me a little more diameter but it still seems to have a slight belt mis-alignment. I have shredded a few serp belts. I had one that was a GM part which shredded that ended up 5 rib instead of 6 rib and has 300 miles on it. I found that the Y body belts vary in fitment by brand. Last week I put on a Katech tensioner which gives me more adjustments with the belts. Still a quick test drive and it trimmed a little off. I am starting to wonder if it is the pulley on my alternator. I think if / when the motor comes out I will raise the engine stands with spacers so I can run the stock Y body pulley. This would help with the pulley and perhaps provide more space for the tie rod issues.

Thanks Andrew,

How is The Land of Elvis? I have followed your write up on your summer trip. Awesome! The primer is staying for now. You are correct about having less worries. I have been chasing some bugs such as no working speedo and tach.
Got the tach fixed last night and I think I need to run VSS raw from the trans to the autometer speedo..we will see. I also need to brush up on working angles in your thread as I have noticed a slight vibration at freeway speeds.
I had the car out at Calif Speedway for an Autocross that Hotchkis put on. I was not fast but rather rear-mid pack. I was happy as I had never autocrossed before. I just did not want to be that guy that spun out and screwed up the cones. It all worked out and it was a nice little 80 mile round trip.

The Land of Elvis is damn hot!!! When I had my Richmond rebuilt I had them leave the speedo gear out for various reasons. My plan was to get the VSS signal off the ATS spindles. The hubs have a built in ABS sensor so it should be possible. Why don't you figure out how to do it and post it up and I'll just copy you.

To run it from the ABS Wheel Sensor just count the number of splines on the Reluctor and put that into the spot where you would normally put the 40(auto) or 17(T56), then for Gear Ratio put 1.00 since there is no Diff. Tire Size will be what it is.

That is how the HP Tuners setup would be, I dont know what you guys are using to tune with.

Default Back Fire

I took a ride on a back road Today and got on the car pretty good up through forth gear. I let off and it back fired through exhaust. I recall it doing once before but at that time I was not sure if it was a back fire or the exhaust bottoming out. I am now sure it was a back fire also. The engine is bone stock fuel injected LS3 with Speartech E38, I tried to call John Today but he was closed for some race event. I have approx 500 miles on it and it is a crate engine. I have not had it tuned yet as I am researching what cam I want to go with. Car runs fine other than a little rough idle ~750 RPM. I need to work getting the breather system done but not sure if that played into it at all. I know Speartech puts a baseline tune but suggest that you get it on a dyno. Anybody have any other clues other than just needing a tune?

Is there any type of exhaust leak? Even a small one will cause it to pop when you let off the gas and the engine decelerates with the clutch still engaged.

Other than that I would say possibly unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust from letting off quickly. I would assume to be safe Speartech makes their tune rich and also sets the timing low, both of which would cause the symptoms also.

Happy to see you got the car up and driving. It's easy to lose interest in projects when they sit on jackstands too long!

Hmmm. I think I do have a little bit of an exhaust leak. The guy who did the install kinda of hacked it. The welds don't look great. It is on my list to get new system. Thanks

The earlier pictures in this thread were just parts I bought from intakeshose company. I changed it recently to below. I am using a LS2 MAF on my LS3 so I sourced Spectre Parts, 4" 90 elbow part$ 97990 and 45 is part#9749.
Don't know the filter number but it is a Spectre brand. Some day I will change it to the newer blade style as it looks cleaner but I have plenty other things to do prior to that.

I had the car out at two events last month and it was fun. The first event was at El Toro air base for the Run to the Coast event.

And last week was a little event calle Socal Challenge at Adams go kart track.
It was fun. Pretty much all second gear stuff

Each time I learn a little more and feeling more comfortable in the car.
The car has ran great accept at El Toro the road corse was about a 2 mile track and there was one big sweeping turn where fuel slosh would cause it to cut out or I should say lean out. My EFI tank was down to a 1/4 tank at that time. Last week before I got the track I topped off the tank and even at 3/4 tank full I had the same problem. It is kind of bummer as the tank is pricey piece. I bought mine three years back and since there is a better offering from Vaporworx which using a 5 gen camaro pump and has pick ups on each side of the tank. It seems like it is my best choice. I will let you know if/when I change.
