Dont buy a new e-brake cable. You may have forgot that there are hooks that attach to the floor braces that spread the cables taking up the slack. I was able to take up the slack with the adjustment bolt.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I didn't buy a new cable because I knew that I needed to have the body on the frame to determine the exact length.

This weekend I finished up all I can do before the frame goes back to the body shop. I welded up the exhaust to the mufflers and will leave the tail pipes off until after the body is back on the frame.

I have been waiting for the body shop for almost 6 months. Has been kind of nice to catch up on money and parts. Now progress should go a lot faster.

I had the bumpers chrome dipped, the stainless polished and ordered a bunch of interior parts and all the glass.

Just for reference I am now using the Autocraft pan instead of the S&P modified pan. Fits good, my Edelbrock LS1 A body swap headers almost touches the oil cooler block off plate (drivers side). I had to trim it down and put a small dent in the header to clear. Also because of how my engine sits (really tried for level) the headers almost point up instead of parallel to the ground. I put a large cheater bar inside the headers and bent them as straight as possible. Even with this work it still involved me pinching the tops of the exhaust pipe underneath the stock cross member. I am very happy with this result as the exhaust tucks up nice under the car and doesn't hang low to catch on speed bumps or other obstacles.

Ben,

I had a similar issue with the block off touching the header. I used one off a truck which did not have any provisions for a sensor. I had to grind it down a little bit so that there would be no contact with the header. I ended up with a very small air gap. I used the OEM MLS exhaust gaskets with my headers and I suspect that using thicker gaskets would improve clearance.

I also used the stock steel/ metal gaskets from the stock manifolds. I cut as much off the block off plate as I could and ground it down smooth. It ended up looking like a small mountain. I should have taken a picture now that I think of it.

Nice looking build. I need to get some pics up of my 70 SS clone. Most of my chassis is done now and 1/2 the body. What size are the rear tires and wheels? If it was posted earlier than I'm an idiot. Reason I was asking is that my 69 has 18X10 w/5" BS and I was wondering if the 70 wheel well is wider at all. G

17x9.5 wheels with either 4.5 or 5.5 back spacing, don't remember for sure. 285/40 are the tire size. I am going with 275 when I am done.

Progress to date: Body shop still a little slower than I like. Purchased a set of NOS fenders because I wasn't happy with the repops or used originals I had. Body should be back on the frame in the next week or so. Will try to get some pics with latest progress next time I run down to the shop.

Ben/Andrew:

I actually posted a question today for Andrew re: the Autokraft pan and clearance issues w/Edelbrock header system in my 72 Chevelle vert. My situation seems more severe and I am not sure any amount of grinding/cutting will fix it either. But I have another issue and that is the header hits the x-member and will not let bolt up so I don't know exactly where it will be in relation to the oil filter adapter. Any thoughts or pics would be helpful. And if you had any part #'s for the oil pan truck part that was referred to in the thread. Thanks.

Not really sure what you mean by the header hits the cross member? What engine mounts are you using? Did you relocate the perches on the frame?
Sounds like your engine isn't set up high enough. I made my own BRP style from 3/8" steel plate and relocated the perches. With this combo I had nothing touching the frame.

I don't have pictures of header/ oil block off plate modification I did. The engine is in the car and that will be tough to get a picture off. Plus it is in primer prison awaiting paint so I don't have quick access to the car.

I did dent the header in and modify the block off plate to eliminate any touching.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
