Designing headers in SolidWorks

User MonsterZ on the Hybrid Z forum used an interesting product for his header tube mockup.
I've uploaded pics so you don't have to register and log in.
The material is called Clavalfex, manufactured by a company in Cleveland OH. It's used for piping and wiring insulation and holds its shape when bent and is quite rigid.

He spent under $100 for all of it.

Cool idea. I would recommend to decide on your material supplier before hand, and ask them what bends they are able to produce (radius tooling etc) before you spend too much time modeling and find the bends you modeled can't be reproduced.
Why do I know this? Because my engineer has come up with some amazing parts that couldn't be made due to machining issues, bend radius problems or flat out too much to manufacture.
For the record, here are our production headers, never modeled up in solidworks, but made on the car with off the shelf bends:

Weather its headers or wood, Modeling something quickly in Solidworks/CAD is always a good idea. I use Solidworks extensively everyday and its by far the most useful tool for any sort of engineering or fabrication.
