Default My 86 C10 6.0/4l80e swap

Hey allz,
just getting started on my swap. Got the motor/tranny in on Friday. Might get the old motor/tranny pulled out this next week.
My question is about shift linkage, oil dipstick and tranny dipstick.
My truck has(had) a th350 3 spd on column. I do have a couple 4 speed cluster with indicators, would the lokar kit be the easiest/best way to accomplish this?
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=LOK-ACA-1804
Now as far as tranny dipstick, I know my new headers need a different dipstick, was considering the lokar http://store.summitracing.com/partde...OK-TD34L80FM36
I think it should work fine.
Also need to know what throttle cable will work...
Now the oil dipstick, my motor is out if a van so it's got the long tubes for oil fill/dipstick and tranny dipstick, that stuff has to go.
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Please steer me in the right direction, if what I posted is going that way or not, and if you have any alternatives, please let me know.
thx
John

PS, speartech is hard to get a hold of ...

edit...if an ls1tech sponsor has these items, pm me. I need this stuff this week.

Use for column or floor shift.

Simplify connecting your column shift to your transmission. The rigid, clean line design allows the proper ratio adjustment between the transmission and the indicator on the column.

Features:

3/4''-48 spline designed for 360° rotation allowing proper ratio
Both 3/8''-16nc and metric 10-1.50mm threaded nuts for mounting electrical accessories
All hardware in kit, including column bushing and rod ends, U-Cut-To-Fit connecting rod, no threading necessary,
Fits GM TH-350, TH-400, 700-R4, 4L60, 4L60E and 4L80E transmissions, fits Ford C-4 and C-6 transmisions.

Complete list of Lokar Column Shift Billet Linkage Kit
Lokar #625-ACA-1800 that's the part #
as far as engine and trans dipstick just buy factory one.because their cheap and stronger. let me know if have any other questions

I would suggest using our 1 inch setback plates in your swap!

Got in contact with speartech today, probably send out the harness next week.
I have been researching this swap for a long time now, but now that I have the motor/tranny, I have a bunch of questions.
First, on the truck intake, the evap, can I just run line from my charcoal canister to the nipple on the evap sensor?
Brake booster...I have read people use the "port" on the back of the intake for this. It's got some kind of plug/nipple that pulls out about 1/2 inch or so, is there a fitting to adapt this so I can run it to my brake booster?
Sorry for the noob questions, but I gotta ask cause I don't know.
thx

If you use the lokar trans. dipstick, make shure you install it before you put the tranny in the truck. I fought with mine for about 30 min. to an hour trying to install the dipstick while the tranny was in the truck.LOL.. I also used the lokar oil dipstick on my Ls1, I had to bent the mounting tab alittle to clear my headers.. I also just used the stock column shifter, I just can't manually shift into first.

For the brake booster, go to the dealer and get the fitting for the trucks without the power assist brakes. It is a $3 part. I had the part number on a card but I gave it to the person that bought the intake from me.

That's going to be a sweet truck when you finish! I like the wheels, what are they? Torque thrust, Boyd Coddingtons?

Finally started doing something today. Got the front wiring off so I can take off front clip. Removed radiator, all hoses, and grill. Hopefully I will have time this week after work to work on getting headers off, motor wiring, carb, linkage, driveshaft and some other stuff. Planning to pull the 305/th350 next weekend.
Finally broke down and bought lokar throttle cable, oil dipstick, tranny dipstick and shift linkage (thx montecarloss, I think that part will work out just fine!)
I took some pics today, but nothing of interest, just reference for some wiring up front on the core support. I'll have some pics of my progress once the wheels start turning.

Finally got the motor in... but tranny xmember is another story, even moving it back to the rear holes, I still need an inch or two.

Going to try and recruit my "welder" friend to come up with something for xmember, get the fuel tank back in, work on a little wiring, get the front end back on and wait for my speartech harness. Having a local shop do my tune, would name drop, but he's not a sponsor but does frequent here.
Everything so far has not been bad, took core support out, did not even have to take off hood, both motor slid in and out fairly easy.
More to come...
