results are in.. long day..drive 2 to 2 1/2 hours to dyno.. got there,, first couple runs made 15 psi..stop the run,, we figured out problem , we are at 12 psi at the intake.. kinda dissapointed at numbers,, stock cam ,853 heads,.. 5.3, iat got up to 145,,, way hot,, could run much timing,, but enough with excusses,, made around 358 rwhp and over 400rwtq..that was around 4500 rpm,, i think,, had detionation... i need meth kit and cam,.. it's real fun to drive.. spin wheel's doing 50mph,, keeps on pulling!!!!,takes about 1 second for them to spool up..then im gone..now i was driving around here real hard and its making a knocking sound..not rod knock,,sounds like cam,lifter,valvetrain,,, i felt some loos of power.. i will figure it out..

pulled plugs.. on passenger side. side its making noise from.. all looked good but for number 3.. looked wet.. pulled valve cover,, very lass rocker one near fire wall had huge slack in it, looked at push rods..didnt see visable damage.. so i gotta pull head to check cam ,push rods.. is there any way i can check them with heads still on?..

If you push down on the pushrod you should be able to feel the spring in the lifter compress and release as you let go.

2.5 hours to the dyno? and you live in ocala? Where was the closest one? One day I'll move to florida to escape this snow and live in a place where I can drive my toys year round.

Maybe I missed it in an ealer post, but what types of turbos where they?

maybe if you turn the boost down a bit your IAT's will lower and you will not have detonation. Just a thought...

+1..... 12-15psi is to much on pump gas without meth. Even with 2 smaller turbos. 10psi is as high as I go on 93 octane with 15* timing.

How much timing are you running under boost?

i thought about lowering th psi, should lower temps.... but i thought of that after ,on the way home,,, !!think im running around 7 degrees timing, closest dyno is maybe 20 min away.. but i havent figured this tunning lap top stuff yet.. still learning.. so i took it to a well known tuner.. turbo's are kkr 330.. around 48 mm come with the gen tt kits... thanks stealth 71, , and chris yea i will be out there sat night.. if the parts come in.. only thing i need is head bolts,, if that was the ticking noise.. lifter.. has a lot of play in the rocker.. when i pull them out , is there a way i can check them.. or can i visible see the damaged ones, pass head is coming off tonight! thanks guy's

If the one rocker does not feel like the rest of them on that side then you could have a lifter problem. Were you revving it to the moon? LOL. I bet you were!

This is a lot for a young man like yourself to tackle. At least you got the guts to try it and learn. But you better get the tuning stuff figured out quick or it will be a costly learning experience. Ask for all the help you can get and be patient.

i found the problem,, bad lifter like i expected... only one.. check the rest on the pass side.... th rev limiter was set on 6,000,, too high for my taste.. i m setting it back down to 5500 rpm,, i have done head swap's before.. there gettig pretty simple to do.. these motor are fairly easy to work on.. i dont like that u have to remove head to change lifter's!!! but these motor's are freaking awsome... power makers

can't believe the 4l80e fit without problems...my 4l60e was a pretty tight fit

I think your car is the same color as mine too though haha

i fixed the lifter,, fix the tapping sound from motor,, before i did this ,, i still had another sound coming from somewhere.. sounds to me like around the torque converter area.. more problems... i have a 6.0/4l80e flex plate on the 5.3,, i riged the spacer up.. with nuts...haha,, so i guess it came back and bit me in the butt... it was over heating.. im gona check the water pump,,i pray thats the problem!!

What com are you on 10.5 11.0?? That will make detonation an not run so good on boost I have 8.5 8.7 com,and run about 25 28 pounds on pump gas T-88 ..after you run the car the cool side of the FMIC to the intake if its hot as hell .You may need a bigger FMIC .what do you have for fuel ..The turbo's may be to small if you max them out they will spin hot air.

thats hella lot of boost.. u have to have forged bottom end,, or a 4 cylinder,,,,, i running stock 5.3 with 853 heads..lowered it down to 9.0 to 1..turbo;s not maxed.. i have 3in pipe running from cooler to intake
