I've recently got a DBW LQ4, and I'll be matching it up with a 700R4 trans, so I can keep my factory speedo (cable driven). Since there's no Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), I don't think I can use cruise control unless I change to DBC. Am I right here?

thanks!

Joe

Well maybe you can keep it DBW. There is a speed sensor you can get that outputs 4 pulse per driveshaft, sin wave (ac signal) same as speed sensor used to do. If you get PCM programmed for 4 pulse driveshaft, instead of 40, it may work. I am in middle of just that on my 89 caprice I have, with a TH400 transmission. On my caprice, the cable drives the speedo, but the speedo has a pulse generator built into it for the cruise on the 89. I am going to use this signal as input to my 2006 dbw setup , to get cruise to work. I will post back and let you know If i'm successful, if PCM can use the 4 pulse signal, instead of 40.

btw, how are you running the TV cable for the 700r4 transmission on the DBW? Cable to the gas pedal assembly???

good luck

Brendan.

I need to do more research on which LS1s come DBW and which come DBC. I've already boxed myself into 1999-2002 for the ease of tuning it. I may not have a choice, but I'd prefer to do DBW. That lag can be eliminated by a good tune.

The 05+ Mustangs that we work on (JDM Engineering) are DBW and have that terrible lag, especially the Saleen supercharged cars. Our tuner, Jim D'Amore, pretty much made his name by figuring out how to get that lack of throttle response out without giving up any other drivability issues.

In what years did corvette's have a LS1 and DBW? Is it possible to use a F-body harness with those years of corvette computers?

If i'm not mistaken, arn't all years corvette drive by wire... All Camaro/TA were cable.

Just program the PCM for F-body, run a cable if its too big a deal.

Also, I think TCI makes a valve body for the 700R4 that eliminates the TV cable..maybe an option too.

Geezer, did you have any problems when you switched the LH6 sump to the gto one?

Nobody comes between me and my throttle... nobody.

G20 van, cable throttle 6.0 and 4L80E, is the good donor.

If you want a larger selection of throttle bodies, then DBC. Personally DBW is smoother.

Default Super Easy Newbie Question--Which do I have?

I just bought a 5.3L Vortec LM7 engine for a engine swap in my Jeep, and the donor is a 2002 Chevy Avalanche. I'm no mechanic, so pardon the dumb *** question, but how do I tell if I have drive by wire or drive by cable? I understand this year donor had both. Also, if I have drive by cable, I'm assuming all I need is the accelerator pedal and associated electronics from the donor vehicle? If not, what do I need? Thanks. -Jon

Anybody convert a cable to DBW? I have a LS6 intake I suppose all I need is a pedal and TB then wire it and get a vette tune. I am getting ready to setup the system just wondering if anybody converted and how much it costs?

Standard Cable Linkage..and Factory Cruise on the LT1 Car. I just have to make a decent Cable Bracket for them..I don't like the one I have now.

Well, here's a picture of what I have--it has 2 cables to the throttle body. If it had only 1, I'd figure it was drive by cable, but there is a 2nd cable that goes to an electronic box gizmo--what is this for? Thanks. -Jon

LOL. That's a cable TB buddy. That box is your cruise control controller.

I also run DBW.No problems,runs great.

So, I'll ask agian, everyone says cruise control is easy to hook up but no-one will say how to do it.

I have a '64 c10 5.3 4L60e with a 90's model steering column with cruise I'm trying to hook up.Any help would be appriciated.
