Drive by Wire or cable? I'm at a point where I need to figure out whether I am going to go with the DBW or DBC setup. What are you running and what do you think the pros and cons of each?
MY main thing is the DBW will clean up the engine bay a little and I can integrate the CRUISE control with the TAC module.
Cable is supposed to be a little cleaner throttle response and not dealing with the possible problems of an electronically controlled device with glitches, errors etc etc.
No cruise with the DBC (at least I am not willing to jump through all the hoops to make it work)

depends if you are doing a street car or a race car
i have done both and i would say go with dbw if you are doing a street car....i think it was ALMOST easier to hook up the dbw than the dbc.......nothing to it at all.....plus its alot more trick with when open the hood...

Don't know that I'm allowed to pick one or the other - I wanted to use the cable in my own project for simplicity of troubleshooting, but then I went ahead & bought an engine that uses DBW... 
I am using DBW and love it. Have not seen any instance of lag and no probs in over two years. If it works for the high performance Corvettes it should work for most everything else too. I am using cruise control too and it works perfectly.

Cable I went with the cable on my conversion. I had to make my own bracket, however, I really think about the only advantage to the cable setup would be being able to increase or decrease idle. Didn't really matter to me, The engine I bought had a manual throttle body on it, and just ran with it. I've been happy so far. Also not sure what kind of "feel" you get with the DBW.?
I wanted to go fly by wire but at the time I was trying to save money for other stuff. I may eventually get to that point later in the fall. Right now I just want to get it up and running. The FBW can come later.
Adding cruise control with a cable throttlebody is close to a no-brainer--just grab a cruise box from a non-TCS car, hook up a few wires, and pop the cable on. The only real advantage cruise-control wise for DBW is that you don't have the cruise box taking up space under the hood.

I use both.
My 5.3 LH6 is DBW but I couldn't find room to mount the accelerator pedal under my dash. So I cut off the actual foot pedal and mounted the rest of the mechanism in the engine compartment and actuate it with the car's original cable.

I would also like to know. I have a LS7 GM crate engine with 58 reluctor and E38 ECU. Uses electronic accelerator pedal with no TAC module. Thanks in advance.

Im planning an LS swap in my rock cawler, no doors, no glass, no protection from the elements. Its stored in the garage when not in use but it will get wet and dirty.
Would the DBW hold up to the abuse of water and dirt?
