Default ls3 exhaust in first gen camaro

what are you first gen guys using for manifolds/headers and for the rest of the system. my 2 sets of factory manifolds hit my power steering box from a 90 Z28. what brand of header are you using? are you using a modified exhaust kit for the rear of the car? let me know.

Hey 67LS3,
Is the manifold just touching the box or is it putting pressure? I bought crate LS2 manifolds, and the passenger is beautiful...looks like it was made for it...but the driver is right against the box too.
Can you grind a small amount away?

I also have a 1967 Camaro convt. I'm putting in the LS376 crate engine, and found the the steering rack goes right into where the stock exhaust manifold would bolt to the collectors. I didn't plan on getting headers, but I think Kooks will make them to get around this. anyone know where i can find some sort of joint that would bolt to the frame and connect the steering column to a shaft that would connect to the rack? I'm not running the stock sub-frame. I have the body sitting on a one-piece chassis from Schwartz performance. suggestions?

You can spend $$$ on Flaming River ujoints and "support bearing", or go with generic Borgeson ujoints, a standard Timken roller bearing with the ID of your shaft's OD, and a fab a bracket to hold the bearing. This is pretty common to most rack conversions, it's not specific to the LS3.

again thanks. I also found this link, from a 1969 camaro using the same schwartz chassis I have. they used 2 joints from borgeson, an ididit column, and 3/4 DD shaft.

G8 Pontiac/VE Commodore are the tightest fit I have seen.

I am using them on a 68/LS7 conversion (at least initially until I get time to build a set of headers .)

Take a look at a pic here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...hmentid=127064

There is daylight between the box and the exh manifold. Approx 1/8". Mounts are ATS and the engine is moved forward 1/2".

from:

Trust this helps!

Cheers.
