Default Top latch loose?

Anyone run into this? how can i tighten it? The other latch is firmly in place and the drivers side is very loose. I figure before i dig into this and start taking things off that i would ask the tech peeps.

Thanks in advance.

Default what's loose?

what exactly is loose?
the hook can be adjusted fairly easy, it just turns via threaded end.
if the assembly is loose then it will take a little longer.
it will take a #2 phillips and needle nose vise grips.
start by unscrewing the top fabric from the frame, the rest is cake...

what you have to do is this:

unlatch the top and there are like 10 screws that hold the front of the top down.

take a philips, unscew those screws

peel the glued top back enough so that you can see the latch exposed. get some lock tight and put some on the threads

tighten.

re-glue the fabric down. 10 screws back in, ect.

This happened on my car too.

Actually guys i figured it out. You have to get to the latch bolt..... what i did was i put the top half way down and then reached in the fold between the top and the inside liner..... used a hex wrench to then tighten the bolt.... all is perfect now.

I tried to start unscrewing all of the screws for the liner retainer plates however once i got them off i thought to myself that this is going to be a very intensive job with a lot of things that could possibly go wrong.... then i posted here. Luckily i didn't do that cuz i finally figured it out!

I hope this helps people in the future!

Thanks for all of the replies anyway. I appreciate the help.

Where did you find the assembly at? Ive gone to numerous parts dealers around my area and they dunno WTF Im talking about or I end up with a plastic lever thing that isnt at all what Im looking for.

My actual "latch lock" (the small spring loaded lock mechanism that prevents the longer paddle from opening while driving) got stuck and then it shattered when I tried to get it unstuck.

damm, that sucks. that would have pissed me off for days.
i bought mine on ebay, i think.
i can look in my garage to see if i still have the old one.
the spring came loose, that's all.
the hook part just hung there when it was not latched. silly i know.
you might be able to piece one together.
let me know if you want to buy the parts i have.
i'll go look right now just in case.

ok i still have the pair.
the one on the bottom is the one with the loose spring. looks like it can be hammered back in.
here's a photo of what i have.
